KNB Camps focus on fun by engaging children in their learning - they are specifically structured so that kids are actively involved at all times, and that the material being presented and the tools being used are appropriate to each student's ability level.
We offer P.D. Day, Winter Break, March Break and Summer Camps, for children from 6-16 years of age, with the themes of LEGO® Robotics and Minecraft. Within the course of each week, campers will also have the option of creating a LEGO Stop Motion Animation movie, engaging in Master Builders LEGO® Building Challenges, or crafting various Minecraft items.
LEGO® ROBOTICS
Mornings at camp will be focused on building and programming with LEGO® Robotics. (We offer beginner to advanced levels, to engage different abilities and experience with the platform).
Children are put into teams - 2 or 3 per team, depending on their level. Each team has their own LEGO® Robotics set and their own laptop, so they can work entirely at their own pace.
The lessons, themselves, are short - the class is intended to be experiential - and they learn how to program their robots by actually programming the robots! Our teachers will challenge the teams to try out ideas, discuss and trouble-shoot, but they are always present to support and guide them to the answers as needed. The greatest increase to our students' self-esteem and confidence is always when they feel that they arrived at the answers to their questions themselves (even if there was a little help from teachers along the way).
MINECRAFT EDUCATION
Afternoons at camp will be for Minecraft - with a twist! The children will explore and learn about a wide variety of curriculum subjects - computer science, digital technology, math, geography, language arts, visual arts, and history - which will be explored using the Minecraft Education platform.
Essentially, in the afternoons, the kids will be playing Minecraft - at least, that is what they will be focused upon. However, by using the Minecraft Education platform, we structure their play so that every day they are learning in these subject areas - they just don't realize that they are learning! To them, it is just fun - and that philosophy and approach to learning is at the heart of everything we do.
WHAT'S INCLUDED - WINTER BREAK, MARCH BREAK & SUMMER CAMPS
In addition to LEGO® Robotics and Minecraft, campers will have the option to learn how to create a LEGO® Stop Motion Animation movie, engage in Master Builders LEGO® Building challenges, or craft various Minecraft items.
All Robotics materials, laptops, tablets, LEGO® & Minecraft accounts are provided for campers. There will be regular outdoor activities, crafts, games and FUN all week long!
P.D. DAY CAMPS - FEBRUARY 9 & 16
Half-day camps are $59/day. LEGO® Robotics Camp runs in the mornings, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Minecraft Education Camp runs in the afternoons,
from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Full-day camps are $99/day. This camp includes both LEGO Robotics and Minecraft Education. Full-day camp runs from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
HALF-DAY CAMPS - MARCH BREAK & SUMMER
Half-day camps are $400/week. LEGO® Robotics Camp runs in the mornings, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Minecraft Education Camp runs in the afternoons, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
FULL-DAY CAMP - MARCH BREAK & SUMMER
Full-day camps are $595/week. These camps include both LEGO Robotics and Minecraft Education, and all the optional extra themes of choice (LEGO Stop Motion Animation, Master Builder LEGO Building Challenges, Minecraft crafting). Full-day camps run from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
BEFORE- AND AFTER-CARE
Before- and after-care is available for an additional fee of $5/hour/day, and must be arranged at the time of booking. Before-care runs from 8:00-9:00 a.m. for morning and full-day camps, and 12:00-1:00 p.m. for afternoon camps. The cost for a full week of before-care is $25.00. After-care runs from 12:00-1:00 p.m. for morning camps, and 4:00-6:00 p.m. for afternoon camps. The cost for a full-week of after-care is $25.00 for one hour, and $50.00 for two hours.
REGISTRATION & MATERIALS FEE AND HST
All camp registrations are subject to a Registration & Materials fee of $55. There is no HST, as our classes and camps are educational, and so are exempted from HST.
DISCOUNTS - MARCH BREAK & SUMMER CAMPS
- Early Registration Discount - $100 for full-day camps, and $50 for half-day camps. Early Registration for March Break ends February 5th. Early Registration for Summer Camps ends April 1st.
- Multiple Week Discount - $25. Applies for each week, from the second week's registration onwards.
- Sibling Discount - $25. Applies when 2 or more siblings are registered. (* Does NOT apply to PD Day Camps.*)
DATES
March Break Camp runs March 12-16, and March 19-23 inclusive. Summer Camp runs from June 18 to August 31. Families can register for one week, or multiple weeks. Every week focuses on new curriculum, so campers will not be repeating the same curriculum or crafts if they return for multiple weeks.
