How Did You Like Your Student-Led Conference? I Want to Hear!

It was good to see everyone on campus last week as you came through to listen to your own son or daughter explain and analyze his/her first half of the year and share goals for the remainder of the year.

We are piloting this student-led conference process this year. The process is intended both to provide a second face-to-face meeting for parents and, at the same time, encourage students themselves to take more ownership of their learning goals. Also, as students become more articulate at speaking with adults on academic matters, the process serves as good practice for college interviews and for their own self-advocacy skills when they get to college.

So . . . what did you think? Please let me know pros and cons that you saw in this process by emailing me at [email protected] .

The American Founding
with Katherine Hagee

Katherine Hagee, History Department Chair and Global Studies Program Coordinator, constructed a speaking series surrounding The American Founding. This series is aimed at the entire community, including parents and individuals outside of Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance Schools. Each evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the MPR and the event dates are January 30th, February 20th, and February 27th. There will be a suggested donation at the door that will support the Global Studies Program's Service learning trips.

For more information about the three evenings and a detailed explanation of the series, click the button below.
Food Sign-Ups
for International Week

Join Rolling Hills Prep and Renaissance families, students, faculty, and staff as we celebrate our
schools' cultural diversity. Share your family's heritage by preparing or purchasing a favorite
dish to take part in our community lunch. This annual event is a favorite among our students as
they enjoy sampling cuisines from around the world. The festivities also include multi-cultural
performances.

Help us make this year's event great and send a dish to school with your child!
Lunch is served at 12:30 PM.

Click the button below to sign up. Please don't forget to label your dish!
Team Registration for Quiz Bowl

Quiz Bowl is quickly approaching and will be held on Tuesday, February 13th. The theme for this year's Bowl is "A Trip Around The World," in conjunction with international week.

All students, Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Community Members are free to participate and test their trivia knowledge. Only 20 teams will be allowed to register, so please click the button below to find the registration form and return it to Kathy Hagee in 6a. Registration forms can also be picked up in the front office, 6a, or Mr. D'Agostino's room.

The deadline to register is Thursday, February 8th.

It won't be 100% without you

Our 100 day campaign to achieve 100% participation was an enormous success, but there are still families who have not yet made a gift or pledge. If you are one of these families, we encourage you to participate now.

The Husky Fund helps us to retain an exceptional and dedicated faculty; provides for small class sizes; helps fund continual enhancements to our campus and technology; and provides tuition assistance to ensure the diversity of our community as we prepare our students not just for college, but for life beyond.

All donors will be recognized in our Annual Report. Custom payment plans are welcomed, and pledges must be paid by June 30.

To pledge now, please email Seth Bass at [email protected].

To review suggested giving levels and to donate now, click the button below, or send a check to the school.

We are most grateful for gifts of all sizes, and thank all the donors in our extended community for their partnership and support of our students.

"Everyone needs a purpose in life. No matter if I am successful or not, I should know I'm doing something, I'm not wasting my life. It's not a catastrophe if I don't know my purpose, but I have to be aware that I need to keep questioning myself, "Why am I doing this?" and know what all my efforts are used for. It's a self-reflection of life, that no one can or should avoid."

Varsity Boys' Soccer had their senior game on Thursday. Seniors include: Cade Morris, Matthew Liberson, and Neil O'Reilly.
