Carbon Tax on the Rise

As has been the plan since Alberta's Carbon Tax was introduced a year ago, the Carbon Tax is set to go up on January 1, 2018. The increase will affect all fossil fuels used for transportation and heating including diesel, gasoline, propane, and natural gas. The Carbon Tax does not directly affect your electricity bill.

With respect to your heating bill, the carbon tax on natural gas will be increasing by $0.506/GJ, from $1.011/GJ to $1.517/GJ, or an increase of 50%.

For the average household, which consumes approximately 10 GJ/month over the course of a year, this will equate to an increase on your heating bill of approximately $60.72/year.

At Peace Power, we're always happy to conduct a free evaluation of your power and gas bill to show you the savings available with us. Save where and how you can - feel free to contact us today for your free evaluation and have peace of mind before making the switch.
