Important 2018-2019 Re-enrollment Information

Re-enrollment for current families for the 2018-2019 school year closes, today, February 2, 2018! All accounts must be current in order to re-enroll. Any exception requests must be made in writing to the school finance committee.

In order to re-enroll your child, please return the letter that was sent home on Monday, January 22, with the non-refundable $100 deposit (cash or check). If you need another copy, please contact the school office. This deposit will be applied to the first tuition billing of the 2018-2019 school year. This deposit secures your child’s position in the student body for the 2018-2019 school year. If the completed form and deposit are not returned by Feb 2, 2018, students will be considered under the new student application process during open enrollment. First preference will be given to returning students. Remaining spaces will be filled during open enrollment.

Important information for 2018-2019:
  • The fifth grade class for 2018-2019 will now be considered part of intermediate school (grades 3-5).
  • Tuition rates for 2018-19 will remain the same as the 2017-18 school year.
  • Tuition insurance will now be required of all families who enroll in our payment plan. Tuition insurance can also be purchased by families who pay in full, but is not required.
  • Kindergarten will now be a full-day program only.

Financial Aid:
We believe that the cost of a Canton Country Day School education should not be a deterrent to any family, regardless of income. We know that the published cost of tuition can make it seemingly impossible for many families to consider independent schools as an option. While we do not offer 100 percent full-ride scholarships through our internal financial aid process, we do offer assistance to families that qualify. Families generally are expected to contribute a minimum of 25 percent of their child’s tuition.

All financial aid awards are based on a family's demonstrated financial need. In determining the extent of a student's need, consideration is given to both the amount of support that may be expected from all family resources, as well as factors that affect a family's financial strength, such as investment savings and other assets, number of dependents, debt and other educational responsibilities. Consideration will also be given to the family’s history of meeting prior financial obligations to the School. In addition, the financial aid committee will be assessing family involvement in school activities, volunteering and annual fundraising efforts.

To help us objectively assess what a family is able to contribute toward education expenses, we use FAST Management as a confidential third party for financial aid application processing. The FAST analysis of a family's estimated contribution is a critical component of our financial aid decision.

The FAST application will be available beginning January 22, 2018. You can access this application at http://cantoncountryday.org/affording-ccds

Please note the following dates regarding financial aid:

March 12, 2018 - Financial Aid FAST deadline

March 14, 2018 - Tax forms mailed to FAST for verification

April 11, 2018 - 1 st round of Financial Aid awarded

April 25, 2018 - 2 nd round of Financial Aid awarded

Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions. Thank you!

GREAT ESCAPES
WINE DONATION REQUEST
NEEDED BY FEBRUARY 16, 2018!

Candy is dandy, but wine is divine!

We need your help! Did you know that there are countless Cabernets, Merlots, Chardonnays, just to name few, helplessly trapped in bottles? You may know some yourself, or heavens forbid, even have some in your very own home. With your help we can provide them with the freedom they deserve as a member of the Great Escapes Auction wine pull!

All kidding aside, our children depend upon the generosity of our school community and the success of our Great Escapes auction to benefit their school experience. You can help by donating bottles of wine valued at $25.00 or more for the wine pull at the upcoming auction.  The Great Escapes Committee will also purchase a bottle of wine for you if you would like to make a monetary donation of $25.00. We are hoping to receive donations of 40 bottles of wine. Whether you are a wine aficionado, and have many bottles you are willing to share, or have one bottle that you can spare, we welcome your donation.

Please bring your wine donations to the office by Feb. 16th, and remember to fill out an auction contract so that we can officially recognize your contribution in the auction program. Contracts can be found on the table at the front door, in the office and on the website.

Thank you,

Jennifer Spillios
Mother of Sabrina (8 th grade) and Everly (4 th grade)

CCDS Drop Off and Pick Up Guidelines

Dear Parents,

Thank you all very much for your cooperation with our recent drop off and pick up procedure changes.  We have noticed that parking on the side lot in the morning can prove cumbersome with small children, backpacks etc…. Therefore, faculty and staff will park toward the back leaving the front portion of the side lot open for you.

NOTE: The side lot is ONE WAY ONLY.

Also, a reminder that your family name card MUST be visible in the front window of your car at afternoon car line.

Thank you!

3rd - 5th Grade Girls on the Run

I am excited to announce that CCDS will have a Girls on the Run program this spring!

Girls on the Run "encourages girls to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Each season, girls gain a better understanding of who they are and what's important to them, the value of teamwork and healthy relationships and how they can have a positive impact on the world. Girls also make a meaningful contribution to their community through a team-organized Community Impact Project. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation for fitness and healthy habits and teach life skills including treating others with care, practicing gratitude and managing emotions. Each season culminates with a Girls on the Run 5K event. This celebratory, non-competitive event provides girls with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal setting at a young age."

The program will meet after school until 5:00 on Mondays and Thursdays beginning in March, under the direction of 2nd grade teacher Madison Backus and 4th grade teacher Kellie Boyd, with help from me. It culminates with a non-competitive 5k at Walsh University the morning of May 19th. More information, including registration details, will be coming home sometime in February. Until then, feel free to reach out to me with questions and I'll do my best to answer. Go Cougars!
