Learn about the Watershed Resource Center
This coming Wednesday, February 7th at 7pm in the Bridlemile Elementary Staff Room is our next combination board and general meeting (to encourage participation we have rescheduled the normal general meeting as it conflicts with Valentine's Day). We will have a presentation by Hilary Hunt from the SW Watershed Resource Center. She will be speaking about the many resources available to Bridlemile residents including native plant swaps, tool loan, and workshops among other things. This is a fantastic opportunity to ask questions you might have about any watershed-related issue you see or experience in the neighborhood.

Bridlemile Walkway Selected for PBOT Grant

On February 1st, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) announced that the Bridlemile Walkway project was selected as one of eleven projects that were selected for the  Portland in the Streets Community Grant Program.

This project, will significantly improve the SW Trail that connects the trail at the end of Julia Ct. to Shattuck near the intersection of 53rd Ave. PBOT has allocated $3,368 for this project which will be completed in collaboration with SW Trails. Please be on the lookout  for more updates on this project and opportunities to volunteer to improve this vital connection in our community.
Make Your Voice Heard for SW In Motion

The Southwest In Motion (SWIM) team wants your feedback and ideas!

Use the online mapping tool to share what you need to make walking and biking safer and more useful to you in the short term. The input generated through this map will help the project team better understand community priorities, learn about needs of specific projects, and identify any new potential projects to include in the plan.

https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/SWIM

There are two maps available for your comments: walking needs and biking needs. Each of these maps allows you to view and comment on projects already identified by either PBOT or other people using the map. In addition you can suggest additional projects that have not made their way onto the map.

Once the maps close on March 16th the feedback will be compiled and analyzed by the SWIM Stakeholder Working Group to determine the projects that make the list and prioritize those projects. There are limited funds allocated for SWIM, however this process will make it easier to advocate for needed improvements in this quadrant of the city.
Bridlemile Elementary Outdoor Space Discussion, Feb 20th

A committee of Bridlemile School parents is spearheading an initiative to develop and enhance some of the outdoor spaces around Bridlemile.  The committee has many talented people creating ideas to establish more native habitats, grow edibles for student consumption, address storm water run off, and to create an outdoor environment that is both beautiful and educational.  They have already gathered input from school students and teachers and now they want to hear from you! Join them for a special sharing and discussion session, targeting aspects of developing this outdoor space in the Bridlemile School Cafeteria on Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30pm. Any questions about the event can be directed to Shelley Hamilton at [email protected].
