Weekend Lineup
Super two-steppin' weekend!

Lotsa great country this Super Bowl weekend! Start Friday night with Lost Cause in Eagle Lake. Tony Booth's Annual Birthday Bash at Billy's Pavilion in Pearland also gets underway Friday and continues to Saturday with a Texas who's who of country music. Also Saturday, Charles & The Fabulous 4 will provide the music at the Sealy Dance Club monthly dance. All are invited! On Sunday, I'm sure the game will be on TV (if you care) at these venues: Glen Collins & The Alibis at VFW in Geronimo, Liz Talley & Dusty Spur at VFW in Northwest Houston, and The Countrymen at Martinez Social Club in San Antonio.

TPN Now Available in Digital Format

We are excited to announce that your favorite Texas music publication is now available in digital format. If I have your email address, you received a note announcing the February issue was ready for your review. Some were concerned that there would no longer be a print edition. Rest assured, TPN will still be printed and mailed to subscribers. You get an extra bonus of getting the paper on your computer as well. And some folks may just want to subscribe to the digital version. It's all part of the paper's 30th anniversary and taking the next step in reaching more readers. Along with TPN digital comes a new website - TexasPolkaNews.com, going live on February 1.

In the February issue: Jerry Haisler recalls memories of his dad's band, and influence "stage mom" Alice Sefcik Sulak had on him. Our Valentine issue tells the stories of couples who fell in love and love to dance, starting with the Oborny Family, who makes their love of dance and polka heritage a family affair. Gary McKee connects his fascination with trains to songs about trains. Justin Everett reviews the new Doug Boggs CD. If you love classic country, you'll want this CD in your collection. The Polka DJ profile features Ron Horcica in College Station. We remember Johnnie Holub, Sr., and his contributions to the polka music scene.

WEEKLY LAUGH
A husband and wife were reading a magazine and newspaper when she burst out laughing. "Listen to this," she said. "There's a classified ad here where a guy is offering to swap his wife for a season ticket to the stadium.
"Hmm," her husband replied, not looking up from his magazine. Teasing him, the wife asked, "Would you swap me for a season ticket?"
"Never," he said.
"That's sweet. Tell me why not."
"The season's more than half over."
