First family of 2018 to move into their own home!
This past Monday our first family of 2018 moved into their own home. Thanks to all of you, our families are working hard to overcome the barriers to permanent housing and are being very successful in that regard!

We at IHNA are diligent in making sure that we are doing a better job of meeting the need of family homelessness. We have set a goal for 2018 that we will be full with three families 96% of the time (that means that we will have 40 days where there will only be 2 families in the network). So it is exciting to tell you that we had a new family that moved in on Friday and once again we are full.
New congregations mean we did not close and were open all January

Thanks to the fact that several new congregations have joined IHNA (we are up to 36 congregations that now make up the IHNA network!), we did not close our doors in December like we have done in recent years. Therefore, we started the new year with three families and this will dramatically improve the impact that we are  having on homelessness in Athens.

As of today, we still have 4 open weeks that we need to fill but Stacy Pardue, IHNA Assistant Director, is working to find new congregations to help us host those weeks. If you know of a congregation that is looking to serve those in need, let Stacy know. She can be reached at: [email protected].

Carrie Welter, 75, Davin's mother having no worries while rappelling in 2017. Yes you too can do this!

Did you make a resolution at the beginning of 2018 to bring more excitement into your life? How about a resolution to have more fun while making a difference? Well if you did or even if you didn't, IHNA is here to help you meet your resolutions.

IHNA is one of the organizers for Over The Edge which will be held on Saturday, August 25. We invite you to join us. It is so simple to participate. Just ask your friends and family to push you over the edge by making a donation to IHNA. Those who raise over $1,000 will be able to rappel off of a building here in Athens.

As someone who has participated in Over The Edge, I can tell you there is nothing to be afraid of. It is more dangerous to drive on Milledge Avenue! Still not convinced...take a look at this video which shows you the OTE rappelling experience:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg4sWV2rjdM&feature=youtu.be.

Support us in 2018 and join an exciting and impactful team!
The board and staff of IHNA met last week to think strategically about how we can serve more families who are experiencing homelessness. We also strategized about how we can expand our services to work with our families in the Extended Network (those families who have graduated from the congregational rotation into permanent housing) to provide them with a stronger foundation.

In order to achieve these goals, we are asking you for your support to fund these new initiatives. To give generously, simply write a check to IHNA and send it to 393-1 W. Hancock Ave., Athens, GA 30601 or visit our website at: http://www.ihnathens.org/donate-now.html.

Want to have an even greater impact? Think about making a planned gift to IHNA. We are working with the Athens Area Community Foundation to create an endowment fund that will provide a more stable funding stream for our mission. Contact Davin Welter ([email protected]) for more info.
