We Love Having You Here!
FEBRUARY 2018 NEWSLETTER
The first month of 2018 is already behind us and teachers are reserving a portion of each class to teach their recital dance.  Attendance is imperative.  Students missing more than 3 classes from this point on could potentially not be allowed to participate in the recital. Make-up classes are no longer productive and therefore are not allowed. Please call the studio if your child will be absent.

It's not too early to think about summer. Look for our summer schedule to come out by the end of the month. We have many exciting opportunities for your child this summer!

Recital Packets will be released mid March and recital information will be in each newsletter for the remainder of the dance year. Please read all recital news. An informed parent is a happy parent.
Please remember to bundle up when you are coming and going from the studio. Remind students to wash their hands frequently.

A Huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated coats for the needy! You are awesome!

If you have any questions, please call 301-846-4247.

Thank you,
Gina Korrell

Recital News
We are already very busy preparing for recital. Each family will be given a "RECITAL 2018" booklet in mid March. Your family must have someone 16 years or older sign out the booklet. These booklets contain vital information such as: photo, rehearsal, and recital dates and times, procedures, forms and other helpful information.

Some of the information is time sensitive. Please make sure you come into the studio to get your packet in mid March.

*** To keep the integrity of the shows and to keep variety, balance and appropriate leveling, some families may have children in two recitals. We do our best to keep children/siblings in only one show but this year it just is not possible. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Tickets on sale at the front desk!
Sure to be a day of making wonderful memories! Lots of special surprises in store! Almost sold out!
Attendance
If your child misses more than 3 classes after February 1, they risk participation in the recital. Please make every effort to attend classes.
Make-up classes are no longer offered after February 1.
Ambassador Message
Hey, everybody! Recital season is starting now, that means it’s time for us to learn our numbers for our big performance! One thing I know the teachers encourage is practice, and I know that finding the time can be difficult. This year everyone is getting their recital music for free so that practicing will be easier! You don’t necessarily have to go full out every time you practice. I’ve found that taking a few minutes out of your day to just mark through the dance helps tremendously, not only for memory but in helping your performance so that when you do perform it, you can give an even better show than if you hadn't practiced. I know everyone’s schedule is different, and some of you are very busy and don’t have much free time, but even thinking about the dance, maybe marking some of the movements too, while in the car (as long as you aren’t driving) can help! Remember everybody, practice makes better!
Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS to our PRIDE Company kids on their strong performance at JUMP Dance Convention last weekend.

Recital Tip of the Month
Always keep costumes hung nicely and covered to keep pieces neat and avoid getting wrinkled and dirty. Put all costume accessories in a baggie and place the baggie over the hook of the hanger so items stay together. Having an extra pair of new tights is always a good idea for Recital Day.
Dance Company Concert
24/7 Dance Studio’s PRIDE performing company students celebrate the company’s 16 th anniversary by performing in 2 shows on Sunday, March 11, 2018. The Student Repertory Company is dedicated to serving the community by educating, performing, and promoting children in the arts. The performances will be held at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College, 7932 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
“24/7 Dance Company Concert” will have two completely different shows, with a 1:00 matinee and a 6:00 evening performance. The performances will consist of group dances and solos, with styles in Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Ballet, which will appeal to dance and theater enthusiasts alike! Performers are also engaging in a campaign to “Choose Kindness,” and have been painting rocks to leave around Frederick to spread the love, and doing small acts of kindness. Tickets are $15 in advance ($20 at the door) for general admission, and only $10 for students under 18 or with a college ID ($15 at the door). To purchase tickets, please call 301-846-4247.

Hi my name is Ella Scholz and I am a 24/7 Dance studio Pride member and I will be competing at Miss Frederick’s Outstanding Teen, working towards becoming Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. My Platform is to unite the community through the growth of the arts. You probably didn’t know that one of the exciting opportunities this organization offers is the chance to raise funds for local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The money I raise will help save children’s lives, and a portion will also go to support the MAOTeen Scholarship Fund. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals makes sure that donated funds stay local which means that your donation helps kids and families right here in our community. Please consider donating to help an amazing cause! Thank you :)
