Greetings from the Center for Irish Music,

Spring term is off to a great start and we are thrilled to be welcoming many new students to the school!   I'm recently back from a music research trip to the Irish Traditional Music Archives in Dublin and happy to be back at CIM.

In the creative spirit of St. Bridget's Day (Imbolc), I wanted to bring to your attention to the many musical projects of our CIM instructors as we prepare for their concert at Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event on February 24th.  There is a great wave of productivity amongst our amazing teaching artists!
  • Altan (band of CIM instructor, Dáithí Sproule) is releasing a new album called Gap of Dreams on March 2nd.
  • Mary Vanorny is releasing a solo fiddle album called First Light of Day.
  • Rosa Wells, Ryan Bhenke and Buddy Ferrari just recorded an album.
  • Chad McAnally is recording an album of O'Carolan songs (with guest appearances by Cory Froehlich and Mary Vanorny).
  • Hannah Flowers is working on an album of Irish language songs and harp, with support and encouragement from Dáithí Sproule.
  • Brass Lassie, headed up by Laura MacKenzie, and including Danielle Enblom and Ms. Vanorny (yes, she's busy!) will be recording soon.
  • Brian Miller and Sean Gavin are recording an album with Bua.
  • Finally, CIM instructor, Brian Miller, was recently awarded an Arts Tour grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board to tour throughout the state with his duo, the Lost Forty, starting in June 2018.  The Lost Forty are also recording an album right now.

Google any of these names to find out more, and come to the Éigse concert to hear them perform live!  Advance tickets are only $25.

Our Events and Communications Coordinator, Aja McCullough Beers has prepared this newsletter for you while working with our incredible team of Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event volunteers to prepare for our annual fundraising event.

We are all very much looking forward to spending the celebratory evening in support of Irish traditional music with you!
