Resurrection's celebration of Catholic Schools Week included activities in the classroom and all-school events. We began with an
all-school Catholic Schools Week Liturgy
on
Monday, January
29th.
Thank you to Father James from St. Juliana for joining Father McCarthy and Deacon John to lead us in the celebration of the Mass.
Thank you also to Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri who visited Resurrection on Wednesday, toured the Innovation Lab and showed his support.

Winter 2018 Adult Lenten Spirituality Course with Mr. Mike Longo
Jesus Christ: The Face of the Father's Mercy
Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm
February 6 & 20 and March 6 & 20, 2018
The title for the Adult Spirituality Lenten course is taken from the new book by Pope Francis,
The Works of Mercy. This title is a summary of the theology expressed in Pope Francis' book. God has shown mercy and unconditional love for us and all we are called to extend that mercy and love to our brothers and sisters.
This spirituality course will cover Catholic social teaching on the corporal works of mercy. As we live out these works we bring healing to ourselves and to our world. The books for the course are listed below:

7th Grade "Experience Res" Day
Friday, February 9, 2018
As visitors, 7th graders will have the opportunity to rotate through all academic areas to get a taste of life at Resurrection. Resurrection students will be out of school to allow the 7th-grade visiting students time to explore classes together. Resurrection follows a block schedule - with classes meeting for 80 minutes every other day - the 7th grade "Experience Res" Day provides an overview of all academic areas with shorter class times.

Angst Viewing & Resources
On January 25, 2018, Resurrection students viewed the IndieFlix film
Angst
, an inspirational and educational movie that discusses anxiety and the challenges it brings to our children and teens. Staff and faculty viewed the film on January 24th and we welcomed nearly 100 parents and community members to a screening on January 25th and Q & A with five mental health professionals. Additional resources about coping with anxiety can be found below.
College 101 Resurrection College Counselor Meredith Rogers is leading "College 101," a seven-week set of meetings for juniors covering different topics to help them prepare for the college application process as seniors. The meetings are once a week and approximately 40 students are participating. Topics include the college essay, financial aid, resumes, utilizing resources and finding the best fit school.
Juniors who have registered for the
ACT Prep Class at Resurrection: the course begins on
Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 9 am to noon. The schedule of classes is available here or contact College Counselor Meredith Rogers at mrogers@reshs.org.

Charity & Truth Gala

Resurrection parents, alumnae and supporters are invited to attend our Charity & Truth Gala, Resurrection College Prep High School's Premier Dinner Auction. The evening features dinner, silent and live auction items, raffles, entertainment and the presentation of the school's two most prestigious awards, The Charity & Truth Award and the Renaissance Award.

Our emcee for the evening will be Resurrection alumna Vanessa Torres '03 who builds empowered youth through her work at The Miracle Center's community-focused arts programs.
We are looking forward to an amazing event celebrating our school community and raising funds to support our students. Parent and alumnae tables will be forming, so begin talking to friends about supporting this fabulous event! Watch for invitation in the mail!
