Invite a Friend to Church

I want to ask you to do something. Do you have a friend who might benefit from being connected to an engaging community of faith like St. James? Spend a moment in quiet prayer, see if a name or face comes to you, and consider inviting that person to church. Here is a script that you can use if it helps: "Hey Steve, I've told you about how my church is positively affecting my life. Why don't you come with me on Sunday and we'll go get a meal afterwards." Step #1 is to consider how your involvement at St. James has impacted you and what you want to share with others.

Step #2 is to aim for a particular day. Any time is good, but I want to suggest Sunday, February 11, as a great day to invite a friend. First of all, it is Scout Sunday, when we will highlight our church's involvement with scouts. Boy Scouts will be camping in the yard on Saturday night, and many scout families will be at church that day. In addition, Adult Education will host a "Fat Sunday" open house from 9:45-10:30 a.m. on the third floor. The Evangelism team is inviting our newest members to come to that event, and all are welcome to join us to learn and meet members and staff.

Step #3 is to contact me ( [email protected] or 404-261-3121) if you are bringing a friend, and we will make a nametag for them. Wearing a nametag is the easiest way for visitors and new members to know to whom they can ask questions and to call each other by name. So, members, please wear your nametag every Sunday in 2018. Pictorial directories are also available if you email or call me.

St. James is a great place to become active in your faith life. Please join with me as we invite those who are less active and those who not yet active into this vital and engaging community.

Thanks for being the church,
John
