THE ABIGAIL M. BASTIEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Today, after the All School Mass, Mr. Geoff Palmer announced the establishment of the Abigail M. Bastien Memorial Scholarship. Abby exemplified the characteristics SMCC strives for in educating students: Strengthening the Body, Challenging the Mind, and Enriching the Spirit. Abby was a 2016 graduate of Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic High School and was entering her sophomore year at Johns Hopkins University when she unexpectedly passed away on July 13, 2017. There will be two scholarships of $1000 each, one for an SMCC graduating senior, and one for a Perkins High School graduating senior. In a statement released by SCCS Education Foundation President Dan Moncher,"the SCCS Education Foundation will be administering the scholarships and managing current gifts, as well as donations that are added in the future. It is also our goal to continue to collaborate to bring more scholarship opportunities to students in our community. This new Sandusky Central Catholic School and Perkins collaboration is a wonderful way to honor the memory of Abby and to carry out all donor wishes." SMCC seniors received the scholarship applications today and the deadline is Friday, February 23, 2018. For more information, contact Jeanette Hrovatich at 419-627-9422.
