Issue #186 - February 1, 2018

From the Carpenter's Bench:
Jesus said to someone who was having second thoughts about following him, "Anyone who starts to plow and then keeps looking back is of no use for the Kingdom of God."- Luke 9:62

After Roger Bannister of England broke the four-minute mile in 1954, John Landy of Australia broke it too. This set the stage for a dream race between the two runners in Canada. Landy took the lead and led throughout the entire race. As the two runners headed down the final stretch, Landy looked back briefly to see how close Bannister was. Bannister, who was a step off the pace, seized the golden opportunity and darted past Landy to win the race.
We are often presented with opportunities to make a difference and follow Jesus or take a different road that leads to.

Has it ever entered my mind to question or second-guess my decision to follow Jesus more closely? When? Why?

" God has not called me to be successful; God has called me to be faithful.  - Mother Teresa
