Winn's Weekly Feline Research Byte
Feline heart disease research and the Ricky Fund

Steve Dale and his wife, Robyn, established the Ricky Fund for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) Research at Winn Feline Foundation in 2002. In addition, the Ricky Fund supports research on many forms of heart disease in cats. Click on the link below to read Steve's article about the work of the Ricky Fund.

One example of the benefit of Ricky Fund support is the recent interim report from a study by Drs. Katherine Scollan and Nicole LeBlanc of Oregon State University. They are investigating Holter monitoring in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in the home environment, and assessment of daily arrhythmic spontaneous variability. Sudden heart arrhythmias due to heart disease can lead to sudden death in some cats.

You can also read the report and sign up for Winn's very informative
