This week, we present an infographic from SocialMediaToday t hat explains why video marketing is an essential part of your social media strategy. In it, you'll learn why the following statistics are so important:

  • Video is the best performing content type on Facebook
  • Tweets with video see 10x more engagement than those without - and Promoted Tweets with videos save more than 50% on cost-per-engagement
  • LinkedIn users are 20x more likely to share a video on the platform than any other type of post
  • Pinterest users are 2.6x more likely to make a purchase after viewing brand video content on the platform

From last week: If you're a writer or even a reader, then you probably love longform articles and pieces. However, as this writer/content specialist opines , longform work does not play well on social media, especially if you're marketing your business. In fact, a successful approach to social media writing can be summed up in one pithy phrase: Get to the point!

Up-to-Date Information from the Ohio and United States Chamber of Commerce
The Clock is Ticking Toward Insolvency For Ohio’s Unemployment Compensation Fund

For several years now, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce has been sounding the alarm bell about the ticking time bomb that is our broke and broken Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund. The Chamber’s public policy priorities included a call to address the causes of rising unemployment compensation taxes as far back as January 2015. Three separate bills have been introduced since that time seeking to fix the problem, but none have passed. Lawmakers are aware of the problem, but still nothing has been done to fix it.

Now, a new report from the U.S. Department of Labor underscores the bleak situation:

Ohio’s unemployment compensation system is on the brink of insolvency according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s 2019 Trust Fund Solvency Report.

Today in History

- March 15, 44 B.C. -

Roman politician and military general Julius Caesar was stabbed in the back by his friend, Marcus Brutus, as so vividly dramatized in William Shakespeare's Tragedy of Julius Caesar soon after a soothsayer warns him to "beware the Ides of March." As he dies, Caesar famously looks at his friend-turned-assassin and asks a simple question: "Et tu, Brute?" ("And you, Brutus?")

According to History.com , "Shakespeare’s source for the play was Thomas North’s Lives of the Noble Grecians and Romans , which detailed the murder of Caesar in 44 B.C. Caesar’s friends and associates feared his growing power and his recent self-comparison to Alexander the Great and felt he must die for the good of Rome. North’s work translated a French version of Plutarch, which itself had been translated from Latin. Shakespeare’s version was written about 1599 and performed at the newly built Globe Theater."

Shakespeare's play is filled with many memorable and haunting observations. We leave you with this one:

“Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.”
- $5,600,000,000 -

The amount of money that will be spent on
St. Patrick's Day this year.
