WAPAC Legislative Committee Update
- The NR151 green paper should be out later this week prior to the Natural Resources Board taking up NR151 at their January meeting. Jordan will keep us updated.
- The Natural Resources Board January 24 agenda can be found at the following link:
- The Senate Ag Committee held a public hearing on the proposed appointment of Sheila Harsdorf as DATCP Secretary. Jordan registered WAPAC in support of Sheila's appointment. All other Ag related groups also registered in support.
- Keith Ripp has been appointed the Assistant Deputy Secretary of DATCP. This leaves a vacancy on the Assembly Ag Committee that bears monitoring.

Thank you to those who passed the word on about our scholarship offering. We have 7 very qualified applicants this year! In order to create a fair and impartial process, we have decided to make the process blind to the Scholarship Committee. Melisa will edit out the names of each application before sending them on to the committee. Again, thank you for getting the word out! We will announce the recipient in February.

Member Spotlight - Nathen Nysse
Hello WAPAC Members!
My name is Nathen Nysse and I am an independent crop advisor with Tilth Agronomy Group in Hortonville, Wisconsin. As a co-owner of Tilth Agronomy I have been providing independent recommendations to clients for 15 years. Current services include nutrient and pest management plans, including WPDES nutrient management plans, Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMP), GPS soil sampling, variable rate technology maps and applications, fertility management, electrical conductivity soil mapping, and integrated pest management. I am a member of the Waupaca and Outagamie County Forage Councils, current board member of Peninsula Pride Farms (A farmer led watershed group), and of course, WAPAC. I graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in 2003 with an Associate Degree as a Natural Resource Technician and an Associate Degree in Agribusiness Science and Technology.
My wife, Jill is a Project Specialist for the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance program at Fox Valley Technical College and assists me in the business with administrative duties. We have two children, Olivia (9) and Ethan (6). Olivia loves her dolls, creating art, and Legos. Ethan is like his dad and enjoys being outside working in the garden, climbing trees, finding new adventures, meeting new people, and riding on the ATV’s. They both enjoy playing with our yellow Labrador, Sonny. When I’m not at work, I enjoy going hunting, fishing and hiking outdoors with my family.
