The Dallas TOR was my first show taking Best Hobby Pages on the road as the owner.  What was promising is that I got a lot of collectors to make small purchases to test out the archival envelope and page system.  So far a couple of those folks have come back and placed a larger order because they liked it.  Tracy Mesler went home with a few hundred dollars worth to sort his Region 9 collection.

It looks like my good idea has put down roots in Texas.  Some of you might remember the YouTube video where I explained the frames I built to hold Boxware frames that would be table top ready for display.  Some collectors in Texas built this example of the concept.  While not as polished as the ones Keith Coffey of GA has been making it was fun to see.

This might be the simplest and most effective collection display I've ever seen.  At the Dallas TOR this simple three ply fold out has color print outs documenting a guys entire hat diamond collection.  It's like a WANTED poster meets educational display.  I like hat diamonds and although I apologize for not writing down the guys name I was impressed.

Even at TORs sometimes the most interesting conversations can happen in the parking lot.  Saturday early evening as I was waiting to leave I had conversations with two collectors that might bear fruit.  One was with a dealer looking to do something different and the other was with a guy that had a business model I didn't know existed.

I took at lot of my best pieces to the TOR and did manage to make a few sales.  With the limitation of traveling in a Hyundai there wasn't a lot of room to pack the car. When I go to the Indianapolis TOR an a few weeks it will be on Chris Jensen's patch bus so that won't be a problem.
Camp Director duty calls this week!  Tonight I'm going to visit a troop in the next county over that is considering going to Camp Barstow this summer.  Then Wednesday night I have an important camping committee meeting in Columbia, SC.  I am sometimes reminded by the comment a few guys made to me this past weekend, "how does your wife let you do all this?".  Yep I married a saint.

Yours in Scouting,

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff.  I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move.  A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store.  The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte.  The mall is open 7-days/week year round.  So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
