Please attend this special congregational meeting at Temple B'nai Chaim on Tuesday, February 6th at 7:30 pm to show your support for the Rabbi and approve proposed staffing for education and music for the community.
This special meeting is called for the congregation to:
- Vote on Approval to Extend Rabbi Bearman's Contract
- Vote on Approval to hire a Director of Life Long Learning
- Vote on Approval to hire a Student Cantor

Letter from President Cindy Baulsir:
Dear Fellow Congregants,
The notice about the upcoming Special Congregational Meeting that accompanies this letter outlines three important items that concern the future of our congregation and provide exciting new opportunities for us all. Each and every one of the members that make up our community is an important voice, so I ask you all to come and learn about all of the upcoming proposed changes and then help us make decisions that will shape the next several years of life at TBC.
The first item before us is to endorse the extension of our Rabbi's contract through June 2019 with an option to extend for an additional year. At our January meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to endorse the extension of Rabbi Bearman's contract, and I am thrilled to bring our endorsement to the congregation for a vote. We have been blessed to have had our congregation led by Rabbi Bearman for the last three and a half years.
Since joining TBC in 2014, Rabbi Bearman has worked to strengthen our community and to serve our members. On a daily basis, Rabbi Bearman works with staff and lay leadership to lead our congregation and is actively involved in every aspect of temple life. She has tirelessly supported members of our TBC family as we have gone through both joyous and more difficult experiences. Over the past three and a half years, Rabbi Bearman has partnered with nearly 60 TBC families as they have prepared for their B'nai Mitzvah celebrations. Her love of Judaism and of our community is evident in everything that she does- whether it's teaching Torah Study, visiting congregants in the hospital, creating engaging family programming, or dancing with our students on Friday nights. Rabbi Bearman brings her creativity and her passion for Judaism to crafting memorable worship experiences for our congregation and she has shown again and again that she is deeply committed to helping each of us find meaningful connections with Judaism.
In addition to her work at TBC, Rabbi Bearman is a leader in multiple local communities and frequently represents our congregation as she works with the political and interfaith leadership of neighboring towns. Rabbi Bearman has also made a name for herself in the national Reform Movement. Shortly after joining TBC, Rabbi Bearman was selected to serve on the editorial committee for the new mahzor. In this position, she worked with a team to create Mishkan HaNefesh For Youth, a prayer book that will be used in synagogues across the country and which includes many prayers written by Rabbi Bearman.
Rabbi Bearman has been a constant source of support for our Board of Trustees and Executive Committee as we have navigated a number of recent, unexpected transitions. As we continue building toward an exciting future, I know that Rabbi Bearman will continue to be a source of strength and vision for our community and I ask that you join us on February 6th and approve the extension of her contract.
The second item before our congregation is to approve our search for a new Director of Lifelong Learning. As we move into the future, we strive to create a comprehensive vision of education full of rich experiences for our entire congregation from Religious School to Family Programs and exciting new Adult Education opportunities. The goals of our new programming model under the Director of Lifelong Learning will provide meaningful Jewish education to our rich multi-generational community.
The last item before our congregation is to approve our search for a student/intern Cantor for 2018/2019. We know that our congregation is one that enjoys joining together through music and we would like to search for a student/intern Cantor to help show us new and meaningful ways to do just that. We are looking forward to finding a student who can inspire us all with musical creativity and spirituality.
The coming year will be an exciting one for our community with many changes. I look forward to seeing you all at the Special Congregational Meeting to join us in celebrating these changes for a positive future at Temple B'nai Chaim.
