Pointing People to Jesus
Ekklesia's mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. We help, serve and give support to others in need. All this is for one purpose only: to point people to Jesus who is their Savior in this world. We are not saved because because we have served a lot of people. Our level of goodness is not effected in God's eyes just because we fed a lot of people. It is only because we have a relationship with Jesus that we become saved! It is for this purpose, to save people, that we are sent by Jesus out into our community. We serve them and he saves them when they respond to him as their Lord.
So, last week a new Ekklesia couple approached Tim and asked about what the husband, Mack, needed to do to become a baptized person. He had known about God all his life but had never made the commitment to follow Jesus into baptism. So, after some study together, Mack Smith entered the water on Sunday afternoon, December 31st to put Jesus on as his Lord. He was baptized into water but raised as a new person cleansed by Jesus and committed to following him. This is the purpose of all our service to others. We are called by Jesus to make disciples everywhere in the world. Praise God for the new life created in Mack Smith this week. It will be our privilege to walk with him and serve Jesus together!
By the way, Mack is married to Becky and they have two children. Becky is Matt Miller's sister and has many great memories of growing up here in Port Orchard. Mack and Becky just recently moved back to Port Orchard from Texas. Let's all welcome Mack to the family and Becky back to our church as fellow missionaries who are serving in Port Orchard together.
