THEME
The Theme of the 2018 Erie March for Life is Life: The Universal Language. The pro-life cause transcends every conceivable human boundary: race, religion, nationality, age, and income level, because each of us knows, instinctively as well as by the use of reason, that nothing is more important than our own lives and the lives of those we love. It is an honor, as well as our duty, for all of us to join hands with our fellow citizens and fellow human beings in defense of such a fundamental human right. Our opponents can try to cobble together coalitions consisting of various special interest groups and political agendas and pretend they are "united," but nothing has the power to unite like our calling -- the calling to save and defend precious human lives, especially the lives of the weak and defenseless.

WEATHER
The weather forecast for Saturday looks favorable, showing dry conditions all morning, with scattered showers in the afternoon. Bring an umbrella, just in case. The Erie March for Life goes on rain or shine, unless the roads are impassible due to snow or ice.
Remember to dress for the weather and wear waterproof, non-slip shoes or boots. And please watch for potholes and other irregularities in the streets and sidewalks, which are especially common this time of year.

SIGNS
Signs will be provided, but homemade signs with positive pro-life messages are usually acceptable. (People for Life does reserve the right to exclude signs that do not reflect the purpose and spirit of the Erie March for Life or our Mission Statement.)

ROUTE
The March will proceed from Perry Square west on W. 6th St., south on Sassafras, east on W. 10th St., and north on State St. to the Pavilion in west Perry Square.

SPEAKERS
After the March there will be a brief program opened with a prayer by Father Jamie Power of St. George Church. The main speaker will be state Senator Michele Brooks. We will also hear from:

    and

March for Life Bus Trip Report

Just a quick report on our 45th Annual Bus Trip to the Washington, DC March for Life:

The bus trip was completely uneventful, just the way we like it! We arrived at our Metro stop, in Arlington this year, literally in record time and before the crack of dawn. From there, it was just a hop, skip, and a jump over the "Orange Line" to the National Mall.

This year, we chose a new access point to the DC Metro system, East Falls Church Metro Station. This eliminated the very long walks we were forced to take in recent years from where we were required to park our buses at RFK Stadium.

The weather was perfect, the best weather in at least several decades, with clear, deep-blue skies and temperatures around the 50-degree mark.

Those who attended the Rally on the National Mall just before the March heard wonderful speeches from, among others, President Trump, Vice-president Pence, Speaker of the House Bob Boehner, and pro-life champion of the House of Representatives Congressman Chris Smith.

In addition to being thankful to God for the wonderful weather and our safe travels, we are very thankful to all the groups who helped keep our bus trip participation high: Our Lady of the Lake Church, Federated Church, Mercyhurst Lakers for Life, and Gannon Students for Life. Indeed, we are thankful for every last person on our roster.

We also want to thank St. George Church and St. George School for once again allowing us to use the school / church lobby as a place to check-in and gather before boarding our buses. And we thank all of the wonderful, generous sponsors who contributed financially to make it possible for so many people on tight budgets to travel to DC and be a part of the biggest pro-life event in the world.

We took a lot of pictures! Please check out our photo albums by clicking here and here.
