Parade for Bulldogs Championship Football Team
A celebration parade is set for Tuesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. for the varsity boys Bulldogs championship football team. The parade is being held on Sutter Street and will follow with a rally at the Folsom Historic Outdoor Amphitheater. The Varsity Bulldogs, coaches, cheerleaders, the Dog Pack, Jr. Bulldogs, Folsom city officials, and Folsom Cordova Unified officials are participating in the parade. Those planning on attending the parade should park at Rodeo Park or the Historic District parking garage.

Mayor Miklos Delivers State of the City Address
Folsom Mayor Steve Miklos delivered the 2018 State of the City address at a luncheon hosted by the Folsom Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, January 18. In the annual address, Mayor Miklos reviewed recent accomplishments and shared upcoming milestones in the year ahead.  A video and text version of the speech is available on the City's website.  

Nighttime Rainbow Bridge Lane Closures this Week 
Beginning tonight, work on the Rainbow Bridge will require evening lane closures this week from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. One lane will remain open at all times and flaggers will direct traffic. Crews will remove bat exclusion devices that were placed to minimize environmental concerns, as well as finish spall repairs. When complete, the Rainbow Bridge Maintenance Project will improve the drivability and extend the lifespan of the historic bridge.

Folsom Police Host 'Coffee with a Cop' January 31 
Grab a cup of coffee and get to know Folsom Police Chief Cynthia Renaud, Sgt. Eric Baade, and Dispatcher Elva Valasek at "Coffee with a Cop" on Wednesday, January 31. The casual meet-and-greet will be held at 6 p.m. at Starbucks at 25008 Blue Ravine Road, Folsom. Learn how new 2018 laws will impact you and your family. The "Coffee with a Cop" program is designed to build partnerships between the Folsom Police Department and the communities it serves, one cup of coffee at a time. For more information, visit www.folsom.ca.us/police.

Free Homework Help 
Folsom Public Library volunteers are available to help students in grades K-8 complete homework assignments, review math facts and practice reading Tuesday afternoons from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. For more information call  916-461-6132 .

Free Senior Pancake Breakfast Saturday 
All Folsom senior residents (age 55 and older) are invited to attend this free breakfast hosted by the Folsom Teen Council. The breakfast takes place Saturday, January 27 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Folsom Senior Center, 48 Natoma Street. The teens are cooking up a hearty and delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice. Reservations are not required; just bring your appetite and enjoy a wonderful morning of tasty food and good company. Call 916-461-6601 for more information.

Low Cost Rabies Clinic Wednesday
City of Folsom Animal Services hosts a clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24 at City Lions Park near the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary entrance. Rabies vaccines are available for dogs and cats for $5 per animal, and microchips are available for $20 - or free when residents purchase or renew their pet's license. To purchase or renew a license, bring your pet's rabies and spay/neuter paperwork. The clinics are held the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December); no appointment is necessary and non-residents are welcome. Dogs must be on leash and cats must be in a secure pet carrier. For more information, call Folsom Animal Services at 916-461-6041.

"Local Color" Exhibit Reception Friday
The Gallery at 48 Natoma hosts a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 26 for the new exhibit featuring outstanding art quilts created by artist members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates. Enjoy light refreshments and live jazz guitar music by Peter Morgan at the exhibit reception. A display of work created by local artist members of the Folsom Arts Association will be shown in the Community Exhibition Gallery. The galleries are located in the 48 Natoma Senior and Art Center; regular hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tap Into Your Creative Spirit 
A new painting class for beginner and intermediate level adult students begins February 6. Instructor and accomplished artist Jim Marxen covers the basic techniques of painting with acrylics or oils, and provides students with plenty of "brush on canvas" time. 'The Art of Downsizing' Presentation Wednesday
