Dear All Saints community:
The past weeks have been difficult for our All Saints community and the community at large. We have suffered a collective trauma. At a time when we would usually turn to our community of faith, we have been isolated from one another and cut off from our spiritual home. Some of us have been able to gather at Trinity Episcopal Church or for House Church in Carpinteria, and those gatherings have been healing for our souls. Now that the 101 is open, we have an opportunity to gather as an entire community for worship and fellowship.
This Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. we will hold a "Service of Healing and Hope" at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1500 State Street, Santa Barbara. Our chief pastor, the Rt. Rev. John Taylor, Bishop of Los Angeles, the Rt. Rev. Diane Jardine Bruce, and others from the Diocese of Los Angeles will be present with us to provide pastoral support. This "Service of Healing and Hope" will be a first step in our communal healing process.
Following worship, we will share a potluck community meal at 7 p.m. in Trinity's Parish Hall. We invite those who have been able to remain in their home to prepare a dish to bring and share. Those who are evacuated are invited to simply come and share food and fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Please let Sally Messerlian know what you will be bringing: [email protected].
Children are welcome to the worship service and childcare will be provided.
I look forward to gathering with the All Saints community and Bishops Taylor and Bruce to begin our sacred healing work.
God's healing peace be with you all,
Aimée
The Rev. Aimée Eyer-Delevett Rector, All Saints by-the-Sea Episcopal Church and Parish School
NOTE: If the evacuation of the All Saints campus and neighborhood is lifted in time, the service and potluck may be held in our Sanctuary and Parish Hall. Please monitor your email later this week for more information.
