Baptism of the Lord
Scripture: Mark 1: 4-11 and Acts 19: 1-7
Sermon: Called to Serve
Scott Kenefake will preach at 8:30 and 9:45 in Lingle Chapel and 11 in the sanctuary.
On this "Baptism of the Lord" Sunday, we'll explore the meaning of Jesus' baptism, as well as our own, and consider it's significance as we renew our own baptismal vows and ordain and install new church officers (Elders and Deacons) who have been called to "servant leadership."
The Geneva Choir will sing Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day at the 8:30 service
.
The Chancel Choir will sing O God, Beyond All Praising at the the 11:00 service.

The Session has scheduled a Congregational Meeting at the request of the Nominating Committee for the election of a nine member Senior Pastor Nominating Committee.All active members are encouraged to attend and vote.

Children's Sunday School Open House this Sunday

Come try out a class, enjoy special refreshments, and meet new friends. Parents are invited to linger in classrooms (depending on space), enjoy refreshments upstairs in the library, see curriculum in the Sunday School hallway, and learn about children's ministries. 2018 can be a year of renewed commitment to faith formation! January Winter Clothing Drive
Once again, Circle 7 is coordinating the January winter clothing drive for Lydia's Loft. Lydia's Loft in Huntersville is one of the biggest clothing banks in the region, assisting thousands of needy families each year.
Please donate gently used or new coats, bed linens, towels and wash cloths, blankets, or new socks and underwear.
Items can be placed in the marked collection bins in the hallways near the church office.

Financial Peace University
Starting in January for 9 weeks, the Adult Faith Formation Committee will be offering the
Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University
classes beginning on Monday, January 8, evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Erika and Phil Batten have volunteered to teach and are graduates of the class. For a nominal membership fee of $109 (purchased through the Dave Ramsey website,) you will receive all the materials you need to take control of your financial future. Organ at Davidson
Organ at Davidson presents Chase Loomer on January 15 at 7:30. Chase is a fourth-year student at Eastman School of Music and was presented as a Rising Star at the most recent national convention of the American Guild of Organists.
