Brown Bag Sunday
 January 21st

On the third Sunday of every month, we collect and bless the donations placed inside the bins in the Narthex
of the Church.

There are many families in Ashland that rely on the generosity of others to supplement their limited grocery
                                                    budget.

Would you please consider picking up a few extra non-perishable food items  while you are grocery shopping?   You may bring them to the Church on Sunday morning OR drop them off at the Church during the week.  All items are delivered to the Ashland Food Pantry.

Thank you for your continued generosity.

To the Congregation,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kindness and your generosity this Christmas.  I was so pleasantly surprised by the gift of a beautiful Christmas Cactus and for the gift cards.  I want you to know that whatever I have done to keep the Church running during this time of transition, I have done as a labor of love.  I could not have done it without the support of all of you.  I know that we are all working toward the same goal, that is to continue the good work that this parish has become known for.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and hope that I can continue to make a difference for our Church and Church Family.

Blessings for a happy and a healthy New Year,

Pam

Volunteers are ALWAYS Welcome

If you or someone you know would like to be a Candle Lighter or help collect the offering on Sunday mornings, please speak to Pam or any of the Deacons.
Happy New Year to all from the Deacons!

To say that 2017 was a challenge would be an understatement.  In the last 6 months we have had a total of 10 different pastors supply our pulpit. In most cases it was someone different every week.  Occasionally we had someone for two weeks in a row.  We were then blessed to get Pastor Katie Keene who has told us that she would be happy to supply until we find a candidate that is suitable for us.

The important thing is that through it all we have not lost sight of who we are as a congregation.  We have maintained all of our outreach programs with the same enthusiasm that has always been such an inspiration to those who know us and especially to those who depend on us.  As Deacons, we believe that continuing these programs should be our focus moving forward.

This past Christmas, we once again, adopted 10 children and we fulfilled all of the wishes on their lists.   We provided the women's shelter with 30 bathrobes.  This year we were fortunate to have received a $250 grant from Pastor Katie Keene which we used towards these two outreach programs.  We have been blessed indeed!

We were able to hold two services on Christmas Eve. The morning breakfast service was well attended and good food and fellowship along with scripture and carols made it fun as well as spiritual.  The Christmas Eve candlelight service was also well attended.  It is always wonderful to see the young people who are home on break from school.  Thanks to them, all the candles were lit and the church was  so beautiful.  Many thanks to the choir for providing an anthem each week during Advent and for singing "O Holy Night" on Christmas Eve.  And many thanks to our supply pastor, Katie Keene for her contribution to the morning service and her wonderful sermon at the candlelight service.

At the last Deacon's meeting we are pleased to announce that we voted to give a scholarship to Emily Wenzell so that she may go on a mission trip to Africa with a group of young people.  She has assured us that she will give a presentation to the congregation upon her return.  We wish her a safe and meaningful journey.

As we continue through this time of transition we feel that it is important to keep an "open door policy" at our Deacon's meetings.  Please feel free to come to a meeting if you have any concerns or suggestions.  We usually meet on the last Sunday of the month in the conference room right after the service.

We close now with great hope for the future of our church,

Dear Friends of the Federated Church of Ashland,

Christmas has come in the joy of being among you all throughout Advent and now in the glorious season of Christmastide.  I would be remiss if I didn't tell you how deeply touched I have been by loving words, a beautiful Christmas cactus and your very generous gift cards, I can share with my family.  Thank you for remembering us and caring for us as we all strive to love and serve our God together.

All joys to you,

Katie
