Right Start 4 KidsSM
Did you know that cavities are the most chronic childhood disease? Cavities are five times more common than asthma. Children with pain from tooth decay typically miss more school and have lower grades than their peers. This also equates to missed school and work hours. But cavities are nearly 100% preventable, and it's easy to protect a child's oral health and ensure better overall health.

That's why Delta Dental of Colorado has introduced Right Start 4 Kids  (RS4K), an innovative plan design enhancement that removes most of the cost barriers to dental care by providing coverage for children up to their 13th birthday at 100%, with no deductible, when in-network providers are seen.* If an out-of-network provider is seen, the adult coinsurance levels will apply. Orthodontic services are available but are not eligible for the RS4K 100% coverage level.

Right Start 4 Kids is available now to most small groups (2-100) who have a standard, not customized, plan. If you have any questions about Right Start 4 Kids, please contact your account manager.

* Right Start 4 Kids is subject to limitations, exclusions, and annual maximum.

The Value of Stand-Alone Dental Plans
At the end of 2016, 249 million Americans had dental insurance, of which the overwhelming majority had dental coverage separate from their medical coverage. Stand-alone plans are typically offered by companies like Delta Dental of Colorado, that specialize in dental care and have separate deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are not affected by medical coverage.

Stand-alone plans are designed to address preventive and predictable oral health needs by:
  1. Encouraging regular use of preventative dental care by the inclusion of certain services (check-ups, cleanings, exams, etc.) generally covered at 100%.

  2. Offering lower deductibles to reduce the cost barrier of addressing a dental problem before it becomes a larger issue.

  3.  Elevating the importance of routine oral health maintenance by distinguishing oral care from traditional medical care, which has a fundamentally different nature of care.

  4. Including a coverage cap to control costs of dental insurance from year to year.

  5. Having a typical 100/80/50 benefit structure serves the needs of patients, while also encouraging personal participation in maintaining good oral health.
Delta Dental of Colorado ensures members have access to the care they need by increasing awareness of the importance of oral care and reducing the financial barriers associated with obtaining preventive and routine care.
