This week is Celebrate Literacy Week at Lake Nona Middle School. The theme for 2018 is "Find Yourself in a Book." To promote reading and literacy we will be hosting many exciting activities throughout the week.

As for this week's update, we have built it around student recognitions since the start of 2018. We are very proud of these Knights' success stories and I think you will enjoy reading something about their hard work and progress.

Please remember that we did release Report Cards this past Friday. Kindly invest a little time to review your student's grades as soon as possible remembering that LNMS offers free tutoring for any student needing a little extra help.

Have a wonderful week!

In Knights Honor,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal, Lake Nona Middle School

Knight Chorus
Knights perform very well at the annual state competition in Tampa . . .

LNMS chorus members outside the Hilton in downtown Tampa where part of the this
year's competition occurred.

Our chorus had a record of 16 students selected for the 2018 Florida All State Honor Choir. These students had the amazing opportunity to rehearse with world renowned conductors and put on a beautiful concert in front of parents, teachers and music educators from all over the state. The concert took place in Tampa, Florida two weekends ago. We are so proud of the hard work these students have put into this event!

Monday's Motivational Moment

TALENT IS OVERRATED

Dr. Benjamin Bloom of the University of Chicago conducted a five-year study of leading artists, athletes, and scholars. It consisted of anonymous interviews with the top twenty performers in various fields, including pianists, Olympic swimmers, tennis players, sculptors, mathematicians, and neurologists. That information was supplemented by additional interviews with those people's families and teachers. Bloom and his team of researchers sought to find clues to how these high achievers developed. What they discovered was that drive and determination - not talent - led to their success.
