THOUSANDS OF IDAHO STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN AN "HOUR OF CODE"

What is an Hour of Code?

It’s a one-hour introduction to computer science where anyone can learn the basics. The Hour of Code introduces students to important STEM skills using popular movie characters to make the learning experience fun and exciting.

2017 was the governor's third year participating in the Hour of Code . Governor Otters commitment to computer science has helped Idaho be identified as a light house state—one of only four in the United States.

Governor Otter visits Mrs. Franklin and Mr. VanKleek's fourth-grade classes at Washington Elementary School in Boise for an "Hour of Code."

The Idaho STEM Action Center would like to invite students, families, and community members to join them on January 23 for STEM Matters 2018 at the Idaho State Capitol Building. STEM Matters is a free hands-on educational event that will showcase students, community members, and companies that are making a positive impact on STEM education in Idaho.

SHARE YOUR PASSION FOR STEM WITH STUDENTS

Idaho STEM Action Center requests mentors to support student projects.

Idaho students and teachers need mentors from a variety of STEM fields. Mentors can support student projects such as science fair entries, robotic competitions, senior projects, and research and maker-based projects.

Idaho STEM Action Center has created a virtual platform to connect mentors with students over Idaho's vast distances, providing those in rural and isolated communities the same opportunities to those in more populous areas.
