For the second year in a row, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion partnered with Georgetown Arts and Medicine to host "What Makes You?", a celebration of the diverse perspectives, identities and artistic talents of the School of Medicine community

Rohingya refugees faced land mines, starvation, sexual violence and more when they fled Burma, Ranit Mishori, MD, MHS, FAAFP, heard from refugees and health workers while visiting Bangladesh with Physicians for Human Rights.


Human science majors Jaclynne Nader (NHS'18) and Jacy Neczypor (NHS'18) worked with NHS faculty and staff to create "CURA: A Health Care Pre-Orientation Program." 
 




Marchalik Appointed Medical Director of Physician Wellbeing for MedStar Health
Daniel Marchalik, MD, MA, has been appointed medical director of physician wellbeing at MedStar Health. Marchalik is on the medical staff at MedStar Washington Hospital Center as faculty in urology. As the course director for the Literature & Medicine track at the School of Medicine, he authors a monthly Literature to Medicine column in the Lancet and a monthly Literature and Medicine online column in the British Medical Journal. Marchalik is currently enrolled in the MedStar Health Teaching Scholars program.

Survivorship Research Initiative Call for Proposals
The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Survivorship Research Initiative is pleased to announce resources for investigators interested in survivorship research and a call for proposals. Researchers Offer New Model for Uncovering True HIV Mortality Rates in Zambia
A new study that seeks to better ascertain HIV mortality rates in Zambia could provide a model for improved national and regional surveillance approaches, and ultimately, more effective HIV treatment strategies. The work was conducted by a team of researchers co-led by Charles Holmes, MD, MPH, of Georgetown University Medical Center's Center for Global Health and Quality and Georgetown's School of Medicine.
 




Bringing together distinguished faculty and special guests in events and activities, Jesuit Heritage Week will focus on the work of the Jesuits around the world and here on the Hilltop. Programs will address spirituality, social justice, the arts and education, in addition to opportunities for meeting and becoming acquainted with individual Jesuits, including Spike-a-Jesuit, the annual volleyball face-off between the students and Jesuits of Georgetown.
