From Rabbi Bearman's Message to the Congregation:
It is past time for us to move beyond our prayers so that we can go forward and protect the lives of our beloved ones. ... I invite all of you to join me
this Sunday (February 25th) at 11:45 am for an hour of learning, advocacy, and friendship.
This is an opportunity for parents to show their children that advocacy and the pursuit of social justice are important components of living Jewish lives. At Sunday's meeting:
- We will learn what Judaism has to contribute to the conversation about gun violence prevention.
- We will use this knowledge to write letters to our congressional representatives - using Jewish values as the foundation for our calls to action.
- We will write notes of friendship and support that will be sent to the Reform congregations closest to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Members of these communities are struggling with grief and fear. We cannot take their pain away, but through our advocacy and our friendship, we can show them that they are not alone.

Order Shalach Manot for Purim By Saturday!
Two of the mitzvot that are associated with Purim are the sending of gifts of food and the giving of tzedakah. In the Book of Esther, Mordechai wrote to the Jews "to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor"! At TBC, we combine these 2 mitzvot into our Shalach Manot fundraiser, a fun way to support TBC by sending gifts to friends as well as TBC clergy, staff, teachers and tutors. Please join us in celebrating Purim through this annual tradition!

Deadline for Orders: Saturday, February 24, 2018!
Thanks for your support of TBC!

It was a fabulous Bar Mitzvah project for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House! Jonathan Barkan made and delivered all the sandwich bags. He even decorated the bags!
The Dorothy Day Hospitality House serves 80-120 hot meals each afternoon and provides shelter to 16 people each night. Everyone who comes to the door is welcomed as a guest--with no questions asked. All work at Dorothy House is done by volunteers--there is no paid staff. TBC members wishing to volunteer should contact Peggy Zamore, peggyz18@gmail.com. |
