Lent at St. Mark's

Living Well through Lent daily meditation booklets from Living Compass are available in the Parlor. We have enough for each household to take one copy. Additional copies can be ordered directly from Living Compass for $1.00. Please do take a copy for your use at home, work or school.

Preparation for Baptism : If you have been considering baptism for you and/or your child, Lent is a time of preparation. Please talk to Pastor Debra (rector@stmarksevanston.org) or to Deacon Scott (community@stmarksevanston.org) to learn more about this process of preparation for baptism at The Great Vigil of Easter, Saturday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Our Story, Our Calling: Lenten small groups have formed. Our Story, Our Calling groups will meet during the five weeks in Lent and practice a discipline of aural reflection on the gospel text appointed for the coming Sunday as we wonder together about what it means "to reaffirm our renunciation of evil and to renew our commitment to Jesus Christ" in the 21st century. If you would like to be added to a group, please let Pastor Debra know today. Sunday, February 18 is the last day to sign-up.

Intentional Journey:    The season of Lent is a gift intended especially for those who are turning to the way of Christ in some new way.
  • It may be that your Christian faith has only been a family tradition - until now. If this is the moment for you or your household to become intentional about following the way of Christ, Lent is for you.
  • It may be that your faith has been a private affair - until now. If you are ready to make common cause with other disciples of Jesus, Lent is for you.
  • It may be that Christ has always seemed a distant figure to you - until now. If this is the moment for you to deepen your relationship with Christ, Lent is for you.
If you would like to know how to make an intentional journey this Lenten season, please talk to Pastor Debra ( rector@stmarksevanston.org ) or to Deacon Scott ( community@stmarksevanston.org ) who will help you in plotting your own course through Lent.
