Important note to our subscribers:
Some of you may have received newsletters that look similar to ours from another organization that produces another "afterlife conference." Many of our followers have indicated that they thought those communications were coming from
us.
The organization in question has imitated our newsletter format, used similar verbiage, and even used our trademarked name to create confusion between our brands. Please know that if you do not see this logo in newsletters or on web pages, you are not viewing authentic Afterlife Conference materials:

2018 Afterlife Conference Plans Revealed
|
Our 2018 Conference venue
|
We are delighted to announce that the
2018 conference website is now up and running, and registration is open. As always, our followers and subscribers have access to an earlybird discount, so
register before Feb. 28 to save $55 on general admission!
The conference will be held in Orlando, F
lorida, Nov. 1-4. In order to generate some buzz in the region, I'll be doing presentations in Orlando, Winter Park and The Villages at the end of February. If you're in the area, come on by! Click HERE for details on those events.
For the past seven years the conference has been held in May or June, but this time it's in October, and we may stick to that plan going forward, because we like the idea of tying it to El Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), a tradition that recognizes the afterlife with joy and celebration. We're also very excited to have mystic and theologian Andrew Harvey as a keynote speaker (he'll also be offering an in-depth workshop).
Lots of surprises and new ideas in store... we look forward to seeing you there!

A Beautiful Home Funeral
From Esquire Magazine, Nov. 14, 2017
"Musicians and farmers and doctors came, and friends and family and neighbors. They showed up with their hands full. They carried homemade chicken potpie and sweet potato casserole and tamales and apple cake. They carried fiddles and banjos, a bass, a dulcimer, and a six-string guitar. They brought girls in fancy dresses and a boy holding a fidget spinner. They walked in the door and admired the family pictures along the hall, and hugged Deloy, and asked how he was doing."

"When an unresponsive patient arrived at a Florida hospital ER, the medical staff was taken aback upon discovering the words "DO NOT RESUSCITATE" tattooed onto the man's chest-with the word "NOT" underlined and with his signature beneath it. Confused and alarmed, the medical staff chose to ignore the apparent DNR request-but not without alerting the hospital's ethics team, who had a different take on the matter." READ MORE...

NOTE: We discovered this article in a Facebook post, and found it to pose profound questions for those of us who work in end-of-life care. We also discovered a more flexible alternative... a
DNR bracelet, which, unlike a tattoo, can be removed if you change your mind.
