On October 5, 2017, The New York Times broke the story of sexual harassment and misconduct claims against Harvey Weinstein.  In the 31 days following the New York Times article, over 20 prominent men were either fired, resigned or black listed due to sexual harassment, misconduct and mistreatment of women allegations.

The allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace continue to pour in and at a fierce rate than ever before. We will discuss why the Weinstein effect is happening and what practices should do to protect their employees, their physicians, and the practice.

Office managers, practice administrators and physicians are encouraged to attend this free program. However due to limited seating available, please plan on no more than 2 staff members per physician practice.

For COPIC insured practices, attendees can assign one COPIC Point to one physician per practice.  Each practice can receive only 1 COPIC point.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience, but no later than February 28

Reminder: New Price Transparency Disclosures required January 1st.
Prepared by Colorado Medical Society
The Colorado General Assembly passed legislation in 2017 requiring greater transparency in provider prices enabling consumers to be better informed. As of
Jan. 1, 2018, physicians must disclose to consumers their charges for the 15 most common services they provide when payment is made directly by the patient rather than by a third party.

This applies to physicians in a solo practice, medical group, independent practice association or professional corporation. Health care providers are required to make available to the public the prices for at least the 15 most common health care services provided. Such information should be available in a single document, either electronically or by posting clearly on the provider's website if one exists.
Read more regarding these new provisions here.

ADEMS seeking interested physicians to interview legislative candidates

For many years, ADEMS has coordinated with COMPAC to interview local candidates for state legislative seats. Recommendations from our local physicians are generally persuasive in COMPAC's decision making process to support / endorse area candidates.
Depending on the race and district, interviews we participate in may focus on either the primary or general election races.
Our physicians participation in these interviews offers an opportunity to establish relationships with our local political leaders, inform them about the physician perspective on issues impacting the profession and patients, and additionally provides candidates information about  key issues of importance to the medical community.
All interested physician members are welcome to participate in these interviews.  We do our best to host them around your office hours and schedule.
With the coming election year ADEMS will likely participate in several  candidate interviews as the various races become more organized.
If you are interested in participating in these interviews or would like more information regarding the process, please contact Andrea at
ADEMSstaff@gmail.com
