FEBRUARY 11TH IS 2-1-1 DAY

United Way's 2-1-1 is a partnership of Marshfield Area United Way and United Way of Inner Wisconsin.  It's a source of information and referral for people looking for community services and resources, especially for those who need essential services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, and more.

WAYS TO CELEBRATE 2-1-1 DAY:

*If you have a family member or friend who is having a difficult time, you can advocate for them and dial 2-1-1 to see what resources are available.

*If you are part of a non-profit organization, religious entity or government agency who provides health or human service programs to the public, contact 2-1-1 to be added to our database.

*You can call and request free 2-1-1 materials (posters, fact cards, magnets, etc.) and put them on display where you work or at your church.

*You can sign up for the "Get Connected Get Answers" Blog at www.unitedways211.blogspot.com to stay informed about local events, support groups, conferences, classes and updates in your community.

MAKING AN IMPACT...

Little Brother Kaden and Big Brother Cody were matched on December 21st, 2017. Kaden had been waiting for a Big Brother for over two years. Kaden said that being matched with his Big Brother was, "the best Christmas gift ever". Cody and Kaden hit it off right away during their match meeting. Both Cody and Kaden work on their family farms.  They instantly started talking about farming, tractors, and cows. Kaden's parents hope that Cody will be someone who can help to encourage positive behaviors and listening skills with adults, other than them. Cody hopes to have a friend who enjoys working on trucks, going sledding, and shares a love of farming. Kaden's parents are so happy with the match that they have decided to get their daughter involved in the program as well. For her, they hope to be matched with someone who can provide 1-1 time and talk to her about friendship skills. Cody said the match is "better than he had hoped" and he will continue to tell his friends and family to get involved and mentor a child.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County's mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Your gift to United Way is helping children in our community receive the mentorships, guidance and friendships that are shaping their futures and making a positive impact on their lives.
