Dedication Celebration Sunday Night!
|
In last week's Spirit Shot, I wrote about the way an Eagle Scout has achieved their rank by taking the process one step at a time. Each little event, task, activity, project, outing, etc. leads these young people to arrive at a moment of accomplishment and celebration. This Sunday evening we will have our own moment as a church of accomplishment and celebration. We have taken it step by step and each conversation, plan, obstacle, insight, choice, etc. has led us to this moment in which we will come back home to our church space.
I often wonder what it must have been like to be Hubert Palmer, Holy Spirit's first Rector, looking at the open field where he and a small group of people would plan and build a church building. I am in awe of the faithfulness it took to create the place we now get to share as our home base for ministry and Gospel living. All of you have also accepted God's call to step out in faith and start the process of updating and growing our shared space for the sake of our shared ministry. I feel especially blessed to have gotten to work with a small group of people to raise funds and plan and implement the building project. Each and every person who has stepped forward to help with this has had a clear sense of calling and I believe God has walked joyfully with us the entire way.
I pray you will join me in welcoming our Bishop this Sunday evening as we go home to our nave and celebrate all that God is doing here. We will have special music and a lovely reception. We will hear the Bishop proclaim the Good News and feast together on God's grace around His table. There is still much on the horizon and the years ahead promise to be fruitful, but in this moment I cannot wait to worship with you Sunday night!
See you in church,
