This week's survey
Does anybody use finance brokers or agents to finance big signage projects?
(Survey suggested by Brian Pretorius of Praetorian BMC)

(These survey questions are sent in by our readers. Please spend a minute to give your answer to this week's survey as one or possibly more of your industry peers thinks this question is important and wishes to see your point of view as well as others in the industry.)

  • RTO with a certified course in Vehicle wrap??
I am a small shop, I have done courses with vinyl suppliers and sent staff to them too and for me that is enough.
All the other shops I see around have their own culture of how to do wraps that suits their point in the market place. It is quite individual to the shop, the vinyls used & their customers.

  • I would enroll myself, however it would be difficult as the sunshine coast my not have enough people who would be interested
  • Any avenue of worthwhile formal certification of a skill has to be a good thing. Employees should be able to have these skills listed as part of their resume.
  • There are many courses provided by suppliers and no doubt a certificate is awarded on completion but I think the person who submitted this survey had Tafe certification in mind. Not sure if it is available or not, presumably not, hence the question. However the Tafes should consider this as a worthy addition to their wide format printing course.
  • Yes, I have been looking into car wrapping courses and actually just about to book info one running in December, can you please send details of any up coming course.
    Cheers.

    (Tracy, Tracy Designs and Print)
  • Absolutely, there should be a trade qualification on any manufacturing or fitting/installing job. I spent 4 years as a Printing Machining apprentice but nowadays anyone with access to a computer and software programs can claim to be a Printer and hide behind a website with a webstore, No questions asked. When working on expensive items such as vehicles it is a no brainer

    (Ian, Tekneek Print & Design)
  • No, just more burocracy for us to have to worry about and spend money on.
  • I have done the Avery course and that's all I need. My ability to wrap vehicles has never been questioned and we do a lot of vehicle wraps.

Smile: It's Monday!
(If you have a good joke or funny video for this section, please send to
 - Thanks)

A new small business was opening and one of the owner's friends arranged for flowers to be sent to mark the occasion and wish the owner luck.
The flowers duly arrived at the new business site and the business owner read the accompanying card to find it said, "Rest in Peace".
The business owner rang his friend and told him what the card read. The friend was angry and called the florist to complain.
After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist said, "Sir, I'm really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry you should consider this... somewhere there's a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, 'Congratulations on your new location.'"
