Valentine's Day & Flowering Heart Ritual

In our annual ritual, we will build a heart of flowers in celebration of coming together in community.  We will add our individual flowers to demonstrate that while a single flowers is beautiful, a community of diverse flowers is transformative.
Bring a short stem flower - or use one we'll provide.

Current Happenings is Evolving

We will be expanding the content and time horizon to allow the inclusion of more types of information to be published. Specific guidelines are under development and we may experiment a bit in the coming months to see what works. For the evolutionary history of Current Happenings, click here

We have had a fantastic team of four volunteers, Bob Bates, Bruce Fihe, Sylvia Forsyth, and Devi Tong, that have been publishing Current Happenings for several years and they will help with the transition. With the expanded scope of Current Happenings, rather than ask our volunteers to pick up this additional work, it will be published/edited by our Office Administrator, Pamela Sundell.

To help Pamela keep her work organized, we ask that all submissions for Current Happenings be sent to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 5:00pm on Wednesday to be included in the next day's issue. Publishing target time will remain 12 Noon on Thursday.

February Shared Plate Collection
NAMI

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has selected the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as our beneficiary organization for the shared plate collection in February. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI provides education programs, advocacy, a toll-free helpline, and public awareness events and activities.
Throughout the month, we will share information and stories about the mission and work of NAMI.

More information about the NAMI can be found click here.
  Sponsor a new Fellowship chair

New chairs for the Sanctuary will arrive in early February!
Please help support the cost of the new chairs by sponsoring one of the 25 more expensive armchairs with a  tax-deductible gift of $75.  Your gift will be recognized with a plaque permanently affixed to the back of one of these beautiful new armchairs that will be engraved with your name or the name of a friend or loved one whom you would like to honor or memorialize.
For more information or to sponsor an armchair, please contact Ann McCrow at  [email protected] .
              UU Fellowship Meditation Group

The Meditation Group meets weekly in the Sanctuary at the UU Fellowship on Tuesdays from 1 - 2 pm and is open to members and friends.  Each session begins with a reading from an agreed-upon text.  The group is currently reading Thich Nhat Hanh's book, Fear: Essential Wisdom for Getting Through the Storm. This is followed by seated meditation and then a walking meditation. This is not a class and no formal instruction is given other than basic suggestions if needed.  The next meeting is Tuesday, February 6.  All are welcome.
