Ahoy, Lake Ontario Offshore Racers!
The 2018 Toronto International Boat Show is now fading in the rear view mirror and it was great to see so many of you drop by and chat with our booth volunteers. By the tone of all the comments your LOOR committee is going a great job, but we are always looking for your suggestions to improve and attract new racers to our programs. So please pipe up if you have comments or ideas for the future.  You can send us an email at i nfo@loor.ca.

Registration is open. Please sign up early as not only do you avail of the early -bird fee structure, it also encourages others to sign up as well. Fees go up on March 15th.

Many of you have noted that our website has been compromised by some bottom-dweller casino website hacker. Do they not know that racers are cheap! We only spend our money on rum, the occasional new pair of deck shoes and sails. There is nothing left in the kitty for gambling. The good news is that our new and improved website is and running and should take care of the problem. More below...

Fabulous news for 2018!!  Humberview Group (DriveHG.ca) is back as our title sponsor for the Susan Hood Trophy Race and the Lake Ontario 300. Their contribution is crucial to the ensuring that LOOR puts on world class events year after year. Many thanks to Andrew Lennox and Jim Leckie for your continued support of offshore racing.

On a more somber note, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the loss of a great sailor and a great man. Brian Chapman of UK Sails passed away recently and he will be sorely missed. He was a perennial supporter of the LOSHRS racing program and encouraged sailors of all abilities to get off the dock and just go racing. Eight bells, Brian.

See you all in a few months on the start line.

Joe Doris
Chair, Lake Ontario Offshore Racing

The New loor.ca Website Is Now Live!

As Joe mentions in his introductory letter the new website is now live, but search engines may still point to old pages until they have re-indexed the new site. So, for the short term please go to http://www.loor.ca directly or use the links above if you want to go straight to race registration.  The loor.ca website is itself operating as it should and going there directly will not result in any casino shenanigans unless you have used a search engine to find us recently.

Sponsors Return!

In addition to the return of DriveHG as title sponsor for the Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenge we are also very pleased to welcome both Skipper's Plan and UCCI back for the 2018 season.  Skipper's Plan will be supplying the highly appreciated post-race chili for famished racers finishing the LO300 Challenge, while UCCI will be supporting LOSHrs post-race celebrations.

Please have a look at all our sponsor's websites through the links in the left margin of this newsletter.  A hearty thanks to all for supporting them as they support us!
