Dear Students and Families,

Our Sixth Graders just returned from two nights at Naturebridge Marin Headlands. Thank you, sixth grade teachers and parent chaperones for making this trip possible!  

If you have not already done so, please be sure to sign up for your child's Student-Led Conference with his or her advisor ! Conferences will be held February 20-23 from 1:30-5pm; see information below on how to sign up.  

Finally, mid-quarter is this Friday, February 9; please take a few minutes to check-in with your child about their academic progress so far this quarter and to hear how their semester is going overall at school. 

And please note that we do not have school on Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19.

Important Announcements IA 

Student-Led Conferences are February 20-23-sign up now!   Our Student-Led Conferences are an important opportunity for each student to present their learning to their family. Please be sure to sign up for your child's conference so that we can have 100% participation again this year. Each family can sign-up for a 20-minute time slot to meet with their child and his/her advisor. You should have received an email or text via ParentSquare to sign up for the conference with your child's advisor and we will send home paper sign-ups this week as well.  Please call the office with any questions. 

February 20 - February 23 -- Early dismissal at 1:00pm every day for Student-Led Conferences: Please be sure to plan with your child for early dismissal, for students who are not attending the YMCA After School Program will need to be picked up or take the bus home at 1:00pm. Need options for the early dismissal days?
  • YMCA After School Program will be open every day from 1:00-6pm and will have drop-in options available. For more information and to reserve a spot for your student, please contact Nancy Hernandez, nhernandez@ymcasf.net .
  • Students may also attend Don Fisher Boys and Girls Club at Gough and Fulton.  Contact our site director at bgcsf@gatewaymiddle.org for more information.
Save the Date! On Saturday, April 14, 2018 we look forward to welcoming families to The Great Gateway Gathering, Gateway's annual family party.

Free Saturdays at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) this Month  
                                       
MoAD is excited to announce free admission every Saturday from 11am to 6pm this February. Enjoy their inspiring exhibitions, engaging tours by museum docents, and cultures from all over the African Diaspora for free! More information HERE .

Great Classes for Middle School Students at The Cartoon Art Museum

The Cartoon Art Museum is excited to kick off a re-envisioned series of monthly cartooning workshops for youth, Saturday Morning Cartooning for Ages 7-12 from 11:30am to 1:30pm and Teen Art Titans for Ages 13-17 from 2:30-4:30pm, every first Saturday of the month. The new educational programing takes place in the museum's new McLachlan Library and Educational Center at 781 Beach Street in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. These workshops feature creative engagement for youth who are new doodlers or avid artists. All materials are provided and same-day admission to galleries on workshop dates is included for participants with their registration. More info and registration HERE.

Estimados estudiantes y familias,

Nuestros estudiantes de sexto grado acaban de regresar de pasar dos noches en Naturebridge Marin Headlands. ¡Gracias, maestros de sexto grado y padres acompañantes por hacer posible este viaje! 

Si aún no lo ha hecho, asegúrese de inscribirse en la Conferencia dirigida por el alumno de su hijo con su asesor. Las conferencias se llevarán a cabo del 20 al 23 de febrero de 1:30 a 5:00 p.m.; vea la información a continuación sobre cómo registrarse. 

Finalmente, a mediados del trimestre es este viernes, 9 de febrero; Tómese unos minutos para informarse con su hijo sobre su progreso académico en lo que va de trimestre y para saber cómo va su semestre en general en la escuela. 

Y tenga en cuenta que no tenemos escuela el viernes, 16 de febrero y el lunes, 19 de febrero.

Las conferencias dirigidas por los estudiantes son del 20 al 23 de febrero, ¡regístrate ahora!

Nuestras conferencias dirigidas por estudiantes son una oportunidad importante para que cada alumno presente su aprendizaje a su familia. Asegúrese de inscribirse en la conferencia de su hijo para que podamos tener el 100% de participación nuevamente este año. Cada familia puede inscribirse en un turno de 20 minutos para reunirse con su hijo y su asesor. Recibirá un correo electrónico o mensaje de texto a través de ParentSquare para inscribirse en la conferencia con el asesor de su hijo y esta semana también enviaremos suscripciones en papel a casa. Por favor llame a la oficina si tiene alguna pregunta.

Por favor asegúrese de planear con su hijo que salga temprano, ya que los estudiantes que no asistan al programa extracurricular de la YMCA deberán ser recogidos o tome el autobús a casa a la 1:00 p.m. ¿Necesita opciones para los días de salida temprano?
  • El programa YMCA After School abrirá todos los días de 1:00 a 6:00 p.m. y tendrá opciones disponibles. Para obtener más información y reservar un lugar para su estudiante, comuníquese con Nancy Hernandez, nhernandez@ymcasf.net .

Excelentes clases para estudiantes de secundaria en The Cartoon Art Museum 

El Museo de Arte de Dibujos Animados está emocionado de dar inicio a una serie de recreación de talleres mensuales de caricaturas para jóvenes, Saturday Morning Cartooning para edades de 7-12 de 11:30 am a 1:30 pm y Teen Art Titans para edades de 13-17 de 2:30 -4: 30pm, cada primer sábado del mes. La nueva programación educativa se lleva a cabo en el nuevo McLachlan Library and Educational Center del museo en 781 Beach Street en Fisherman's Wharf de San Francisco. Estos talleres presentan un compromiso creativo para los jóvenes que son nuevos doodlers o artistas ávidos.
