DEVELOPER PAUSES PROPOSED HOTEL ON NEAR EAST SIDE

A prominent developer is hitting the pause button on a five-story boutique hotel project on booming East Washington Avenue amid concerns about its looks and size, and historic preservation.

After months of gathering public comment and drafting concepts, Madison is unveiling plans for a new $11.7 million Pinney Library on the East Side.
Plans for Madison's University Research Park are again taking a strong cue from Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.Founded in 1959, Research Triangle Park dwarfs Madison's park, with 7,000 acres on an area seven miles long and five miles wide, extending from North Carolina State University in Raleigh to Duke University in Durham to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

DANE COUNTY BOARD DELAYS DECISION ON EAST WASHINGTON VETERAN HOUSING PROJECT

The Dane County Board of Supervisors delayed selecting a developer Thursday for a housing project for veterans on East Washington Avenue in order to consider designating units specifically for homeless families.

Gov. Scott Walker's administration says work will be done a year ahead of schedule, by 2020, on a project to expand and rebuild U.S. Interstate 39-90 from the Madison area to the Illinois state line.

Madison School Board members gave conceptual approval Monday to a staff proposal to renovate and expand the East High School fieldhouse at a cost of up to $2.8 million in donated and district dollars.
