March for Life

A group of E. D. White Catholic students chaperoned by EDW faculty set off to Washington D.C. on January 15-19 for this year's March for Life. The annual pro-life rally dates back to 1974 after the legalization of abortion by the United States Supreme Court.

Grandparents Days

Grandparents Day was celebrated on Tuesday, January 30 and Wednesday, January 31. Both days started with breakfast in the Union, which included the famous EDW "Legacy Biscuits" and gave grandparents a chance to mingle with friends. Following breakfast, grandparents then attended a special assembly that included updates on what's happening around campus, a special grandparent video presentation, and a performance by the EDW Jazz band. After the assembly, students took their grandparents on a tour around campus. Along the route, faculty and staff members had photo stations set up where they took pictures to capture the day.
Softball Jersey Ceremony

The softball team is pictured with their dads for the softball jersey ceremony held on January 30. Each dad spoke to his daughter and then presented her with her jersey for the start of the season.

Teacher Highlight

Angie Knight, a native of Franklin, LA is in her 30th year of teaching and is in her 10th year at E. D. White. Knight currently teaches 8th grade English and reading. She received a degree from Nicholls State University in Legal Assistant studies then continued her education where she received her B.A. degree in Education.

Before arriving at E. D. White, Knight taught in the public schools of Lafourche for 20 years. She was a curriculum facilitator for several years and wrote math and English curriculum for the parish. She was a state assessor for new teachers for the Louisiana Department of Education along with mentoring incoming teachers in their first two years of teaching.

Knight came to E. D. White in 2008 to teach reading and English after her retirement from public schools. She loves teaching 8th grade and introducing her students to the wonderful school of E. D. White. She can't think of another job that would fulfill her as much as teaching. Knight hopes that each year she inspires and motivates her students in some way to be kind-hearted, productive, and successful citizens.   Her favorite quote is "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." by Mahatma Gandhi. She hopes her students dream big and love life.
