Keeping our Neighbourhoods Safe
With summer coming soon - which will see schools out and more people enjoying the outdoors - a reminder to think of our children and families and drive safely. The maximum speed limit on all Pickering local and collector roads in residential areas is 40 km/h and is posted as such.  All other roads are 50 km/h (and may not be posted), unless otherwise posted at a higher speed limit.

I am also including these helpful tips for keeping our neighbourhoods safe:
  • Don't be distracted by using electronic devices while driving.
  • Strengthen the entry points to your home.
  • Leave doors and windows locked whenever possible.
  • Invest in good locks and security bars.
  • Keep your garage door closed and locked.
  • Store garage door openers in the house, not the car.
  • Trim shrubs and trees to ensure doors and windows are in clear view.
  • Install adequate exterior lighting and consider motion sensors.
  • Never leave keys in secret places; instead, leave a duplicate with a friend or neighbour.
  • Please don't drink and drive.
Farmers' Market Coming this June!

Nestled next to the Civic Complex on The Esplanade South, the Pickering City Centre Farmers' Market continues the tradition of a unique outdoor community market. Every Tuesday from June 13, 2017 to October 3, 2017 come out and experience local fresh produce, food, the arts, and sustainability in the heart of our City Centre.
Request a Congratulatory Certificate in Celebration of Canada 150
WhetherCanada 150 logo it's a birthday, an anniversary, or the birth of a baby born this year, apply to receive a special congratulatory certificate from Mayor Ryan, on behalf of the City of Pickering and its Members of Council.  Visit pickering.ca/protocols, or contact the Mayor's Office at 905.420.4660, or by email at mayor@pickering.ca, for more information.
Enhancements to Pickering City Hall
27 years later, and it's time for a refresh! Pickering City Hall will be undergoing a transformation to its main level, starting this summer. The enhancements will include improvements to barrier-free access to Council Chambers and main floor service counters of City Hall, as well as expanded programmable space connecting the Council Chambers and main lobby.  Other changes include an accessible washroom and improved security controls.

While we understand that this may cause some inconvenience, arrangements are underway to ensure City services continue to operate as efficiently as possible.  Committee and Council meetings will be relocated to the Pickering Recreation Complex to accommodate the Council Chamber upgrades, which are anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
