42nd Annual Chamber Awards Banquet

Art Rascon
Get ready for an evening of fun, food and recognition at the Annual Chamber Awards Banquet set for Tuesday, February 27th, 6:30 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center (801 S. Cleveland Street).

Each year the Chamber recognizes outgoing directors, welcomes incoming directors, and announces our Citizen of the Year award winners for both Dayton and Liberty. It's a night of good food and fellowship, highlighted by a special guest speaker you're sure to enjoy.

This year, we're honored to have Emmy award-winning journalist and ABC13 news anchor Art Rascon. Art is a Texas native, and although he's a familiar face to local viewers of ABC13 news broadcasts in Houston, his extensive journalism background and broadcasting work extends to places and situations around the world. He has covered major events with CBS News including the Oklahoma City bombing, the O.J. Simpson case, the Branch Davidian stand-off, Mexico's guerilla wars, Haiti's civil unrest, and many others.

We are pleased to have Art Rascon as our featured guest speaker for 2018, and you can view his complete biography on the ABC13 website.

Tickets for the banquet are $35, and a round table of 10 can be purchased for $350. Groups of 10 can be seated together by request. A reservation form can be found at the end of this newsletter. Sponsorships are still available. If you or your business would like to be represented as a sponsor, please contact the Chamber at 936.336.5736 or e-mail [email protected]

CHAMBER VOLUNTEERS ATTEND TRAVEL SHOW

Chamber volunteers Cathy Harbour and Jan Knight recently attended the 2018 Destinations Galore Travel Show, an event held every two years in January at the Humble Civic Center. The travel show is designed to assist Harris County senior adult trip coordinators, as well as the traveling public, with trip planning information. This transportation show offers one-stop shopping for great trip ideas to interesting destinations throughout southeast Texas. Vendors from historical societies, chambers of commerce, trip and tour operators, special event coordinators, museums, parks, theaters, annual festivals, craft shows and restaurants are showcased.

Armed with printed material and a lot of knowledge, Cathy and Jan met with many attendees at the show, and answered a lot of questions about the Liberty-Dayton area. Both ladies said they had a great time, and we sincerely appreciate their work representing the Chamber and the Liberty-Dayton area.
