Robert Lee Head of School

I am always a little nervous when someone mentions the word requirements.   While I know there are minimum expectations and necessary guidelines we must make to succeed, all too often this letter of the law fails to address our hearts.

At Christ Covenant School, we have requirements for graduation, policies for discipline, minimum expectations and qualifications for staff, students and volunteers.  Contracts, however, are not covenants.  The word covenant implies a much higher obligation, an expectation above and beyond the basic requirements.

When God operates with His people, He builds on covenantal relationships not contractual.  He is more committed to us than any agreement could outline.  Our covenant with Him was sealed by His own blood and is supported by His eternal loyalty.  His heart is fully ours, and He asks the same in return.

At Christ Covenant, rather than requirements, we prefer to speak in the language of ideals.  We have descriptions of our ideal graduate, our standards of professional excellence, our pillars, and the ultimately the Lord Jesus as the ideal we follow.  As we build a community together that loves, educates, and equips; our goal is always an ideal beyond the requirement.  The ideal is love from a pure heart; love of learning, love of one another, love of God.

Love, the Bible teaches, is the fulfillment of all the law.  When pressed for a requirement, I like the answer God gave to the prophet Micah,

"He has shown you, O man, what is good
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God."

Micah 6:8

Congratulations Mary Grace Flowers!
Congratulations to Mary Grace Flowers who was was recently awarded one of Girl Scouting's highest honors, the Girl Scout Silver Award.  Completion of the five requirements to achieve the highest award in Cadette Girl Scouting shows her willingness and determination to reach her goals.

The Girl Scout Silver Award challenges middle school-aged Girl Scouts to excel in leadership, community service, career planning and personal development. Young women who earn this award have demonstrated self-discipline, time management, originality, initiative, and a significant mastery of skills.  They have completed a long-term service project designed to promote growth and knowledge in areas such as business and technology, arts and humanities, cultural and global relations, energy conservation, personal well being, the outdoors, or the environment.

Way to go M.G., we're proud of you!
