Team East, Regional Economic Development Branch, is excited to offer a FREE workshop by Steve Duff, OMAFRA's Chief Economist. Steve will provide an overview of new OMAFRA data resources, showcasing a suite of tools to support community-driven agriculture economic development and planning. This resource includes updates to the existing Agriculture Profile and Business Profile, with the addition of a Food Expenditure Profile, Food Consumption Profile and Agriculture Census Over Time.

Ontario and Canada Partner to Grow Ontario's Food and Beverage Industry 
The federal and provincial governments are partnering to help grow Ontario's food and beverage processing sector by supporting local businesses to increase productivity, meet consumer demand and create good jobs.
Jeff Leal, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs made the announcement at the Wilton Cheese Factory in Odessa today, and was joined by Mike Bossio, MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington, on behalf of Federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay. With support provided through Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative, the company rebuilt and upgraded its main cooler, helping to improve energy efficiency and achieve cost savings.

What is the Bioenterprise Seed Fund?
Bioenterprise is participating in a program funded by the Government of Canada to provide non-repayable seed financing, coaching, and mentorship to assist start-ups and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agriculture and agri-food sectors, as well as sustainable and environmental technologies, to grow through generation of revenue and attraction of follow-on private investment over the next 4 years.
