St. James Annual Meeting Recap
Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting this past Sunday.  You can find all of the materials from the meeting at the links below.

Superbowl Snack Sale  - A note from Gail Feeney
Thank you to all who participated in the Superbowl snack sale!  Whether you brought in snacks to sell or purchased snacks or both, it was very much appreciated!!  The generosity of our congregation continues to amaze me!

A special thank you to Carol Fournier for donating her jam sales to the cause!!
Mission of the Month - We Share Hope

We Share Hope is a food rescue mission that works locally to prevent food from going to waste.  We Share Hope is a big part of the reason we are able to offer such great resources to people in need though Loaves & Fishes RI. The funds that we raise will help them to offset their operating expenses, most notably keeping fuel in their vehicles so that they can continue to gather food from local retailers before it is disposed of.  Please consider making a contribution to this great organization this month!

1 00% of your donation will go toward feeding the hungry.
First Communion

Children at St. James who have not yet received Communion will be invited to gather with Pastor Andrew beginning this month to learn more about what it means to share in God's grace at the table!  If you are interested in having your child participate please contact Pastor Andrew at  [email protected] or sign up on the sheet in the Community Room.

Once we have a list of children who would like to participate, Pastor Andrew will coordinate days and times for classes.
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is February 14

We invite you to join us for worship on Ash Wednesday.  There are two ways for you to participate in this day that marks the beginning of the season of Lent.  First, the church will be open from noon-1:30 pm and again from 6:30-8 pm for a self-guided meditative journey.

For those of you who cannot make it to the church that day, we will have resources available to you (complete with ashes to go) so that you may worship at home, at work, with family, friends, anywhere you choose!

A copy of the Ash Wednesday service can be found here.  These will also be available, with packets of ashes to go in church this coming Sunday (February 11).

Loaves and Fishes RI Announcement

LFRI Fundraising Committee Signup

LFRI's board of directors desires to form a Fundraising Committee to define, plan, organize, and execute one major or several minor fundraising events, with a goal approximately $25,000 over the next two years (2018-2019). We expect this undertaking will combine fun, teamwork, creativity, hospitality, initiative, resourcefulness, and fellowship among the Committee, and will result in an event(s) that will attract those who would be moved to support LFRI's mission of providing food and promoting dignity through caring for our RI neighbors in need. The LFRI board requests that each member church identify 1-2 people from their congregations, who are willing, available, and suited to serve on this Committee.

If you feel called to serve on this Committee, please click on the Sign Up Genius below and select the signup button next to St. James, click the "submit and signup" button at the bottom of the page, then provide your name, and in comments insert email, phone# and briefly indicate your preferred day and times to meet so the committee can be easily convened to set an initial meeting by end of February.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at (401) 524-7604 or [email protected].  Thank you!

Reading Across Rhode Island 2018

The Barrington Interfaith Partners and Barrington Interfaith Clergy will be sponsoring a series of local events in conjunction with the Rhode Island Center for the Book's 16th annual Reading Across Rhode Island campaign.

The selection for this year is "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas.  " A brave, thought-provoking, conversation-enabling novel about what prejudice looks like in the 21st century. Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she was born and raised and her private high school in the suburbs. The uneasy balance between them is shattered when Starr is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend."

Find out more at: ribook.org and stay tuned for more information about local events in Barrington.
New Refrigerator Needed
The refrigerator in the upstairs kitchen needs to be replaced.  If you would like to contribute to the cost of a new one, please feel free to place a donation in the offering on any of the upcoming Sundays or send it to the church office directly.  Please mark your contribution "New Refrigerator".  Thank you!
