UFTI Students, Faculty, and Staff Attend TRB's 97th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.TRBrecap
This past January, UFTI students, faculty, and  staff attended the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). Participation in TRB included various lectures, poster sessions, and TRB committees. Additionally, the UFTI held their annual reception for students, faculty, and friends of UF. UFTI Researchers Host Data Visualization Workshop with Leading Researchers across the U.S.Dataworksop
The UFTI hosted a free workshop on "Visualizing Transportation Big Data for Efficient Decision Making" on December 8, 2017. The workshop took place from 8 AM to 12 PM at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, 1714 SW 34th St., Gainesville, FL. 66 people registered for the in-person workshop, and 17 additional people attended online.

Annual ITE Student Leadership Summit on February 9-11, 2018itesummit
Gator ITE, the ITE Student Chapter at the University of Florida, is excited to host Florida's Annual ITE Student Leadership Summit, February 9-11, 2018, in Gainesville, Florida. This event will include seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and other activities. The list of speakers includes recognized and distinguished professionals from the transportation industry.  This event will also coordinate with the Florida Section ITE Winter Workshop on February 9th, which will be held in Gainesville, Florida, for the first time in its history.

UFTI Hosts TTI Director Gregory Winfreewinfree
Gregory Winfree, TTI  Agency Director, visited the UFTI to give a speech about connected autonomous vehicles. [Click Here] to read his abstract or view a recording of the presentation.
Dr. Scott Washburn, with co-authors Ethan Stoop and Wei Sun, presented on their paper "Evaluation of Commercial Truck Parking Detection for Rest Areas" at the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in Washington, D.C. Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, on behalf of the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The signing was held in conjunction with the ITE International Board of Direction Meeting in Washington, D.C. To read more about what the MOU entails, [Click Here].
UFTI Alumnus Liteng Zha wins 2018 COTA Best Dissertation Award
Liteng
UFTI alumnus Liteng Zha was selected to receive the 2018 COTA Best Dissertation Award based on his dissertation, "Modeling and Analysis of On-demand Ride-Sourcing Markets." The winning dissertation was selected by 13 reviewers who ranked Zha's application as No. 1 out of 20 candidates.
The award ceremony was held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, during the 21st COTA Winter Symposium, held at the Marriott Marquis, Washington, D.C.
