This spring, thanks to the Bob and Anna Lou Schaberg Fund of the VNHC, CrossOver opened our new
Connections Center
to serve refugees and immigrants in our community.
It can be very hard to adapt to life in a new country with a new culture and language. At the Connections Center, CrossOver and our valued partners are providing resources to make this transition easier.
This year, those partners and resources included:
- Reestablish Richmond taught drivers education in Arabic, and ran a wellness group for Bhutanese immigrants.
- Commonwealth Catholic Charities held an art class for a group of foster children.
- River Road Church, Baptist ran a sewing circle.
- The Richmond Life Center helped with the sewing circle and also hosted many networking events for Spanish speaking women.
- CrossOver held Lay Health Promoter Classes in English and Spanish.
