Property Tax Prepayment Rush as 2017 Wanes

Beginning in 2018, many Marylanders will lose some ability to deduct property taxes paid from federal taxable income. With the new "caps" in effect for next year, many jurisdictions have responded to taxpayer requests to pre-pay 2018 property taxes before the end of this calendar year. Several jurisdictions have acted quickly to pass emergency county legislation to effect this opportunity, others had such a process previously but are experiencing unprecedented participation.
