I hope you all are having a wonderful week! Thank you for taking time to read this email. It is the best way to get a comprehensive look at everything going on for ChristKids and their families.
This week in SundaySchool and in Kids Worship we will be diving into the story of Jairus's Daughter found in Mark 5:21-24 and 35-43. In this story Jairus, who was a leader at a Synagogue near where Jesus was traveling around teaching, had a very sick daughter. He had heard that Jesus could perform miracles and could heal people so he sought Jesus out and asked him to come to his home and heal his daughter. Sure enough, Jesus didn't end up just healing his daughter- he brought her back from the dead. This is one of the stories in which we see the miraculous power of Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man. It's been a hard week for our world, witnessing the loss of 17 children in another school shooting. We look at our world and say, "we need a miracle" and we truly do. My prayer for us is that in light of the darkness of our world, that we can be reminded that God is still at work in this world, that we can place our hope in He who does miracles, who heals, who brings transformation. And may we be like Jairus, seeking out Jesus in our times of distress, placing our hope in God who is bigger than all of our chaos. I love teaching children the stories in which Jesus performs miracles because it seems like they "get it" so much more than we do as adults. They have any easier time believing in miracles than we do, and I am looking forward to sharing this story with them on Sunday- to be reminded of the beauty of child-like faith.
