A Note from Mrs. Ryan
Dear Parents,

Our school will again participate in the 9:00 AM Mass at St. Rose Parish this Sunday. It is part of our initiative to maintain a strong presence in our parish. As you know the parishioners are strong supporters of our school and they love to see our children at Mass. Mrs. Szczech is always looking for students who would like to be lectors at these parish Masses. Please email her if you think your child would like to serve in this capacity.

Although our media center is still becoming, I am pleased to say that groups of students have begun to use the computers for formative assessment. We hope to have the entire center ready for full use by April.

Meanwhile, the issuance of the re-building permits are imminent and construction of the Kindergarten and second grade classrooms will begin soon. The re-build of the preschool building will commence about the same time.

The teachers really appreciate the extra instructional time that has resulted from moving the start time for school up to 8:10 AM and most families have adjusted their morning routines to ensure that their children arrive on time. I want to gently remind those who are still struggling with this change that punctuality is very important for a stress-free beginning of the school day and optimal learning for your child.

Sincerely,
Kathy Ryan

Healing Mass & Lunch for Fire Survivors
There will be a Healing Mass at St. Rose Parish on Saturday, March 10th, to offer material, emotional and spiritual support to those who lost homes, businesses and jobs. Members of the Order of Malta and Catholic Charities will be on hand to offer support. The day includes a bilingual Lourdes Healing Mass at 10:30 am, a lunch in the St. Rose Parish Hall, with a Health and Life Job Fair. Those who did not suffer a loss, likely know others who did. Please pass this onto them and let them know about this upcoming healing event at St. Rose. Please inform call the parish office at 542-6448 to confirm how many family members will be attending for lunch.
In case you missed it & OTHER STUFF!
FLU & ALLERGY SEASON
Hopefully, FLU season is coming to a close, BUT  ALLERGY season is now upon us!
Suffering from allergies while in class is distracting and difficult. If your child suffers from seasonal allergies or hay fever, over the counter medications should be given by the parent prior to sending your child to school to achieve the optimal relief.
Per school policy, office staff will not dispense allergy medication during the school day, when 24 hour medications are readily available for parents to give to their children.

As always, children with severe coughs, colds and / or fevers should  not come to school.
Please refer to the Health section of the school handbook (pg. 7)
AFTER SCHOOL DISMISSAL
We have requested many times and must again remind our parents to please follow these guidelines for after-school dismissal.
  • Cardinal Newman students dismiss at 2:20pm. It is important that St. Rose parents, grandparents, or others who are picking up St. Rose students, are not lined up in the parking lot before 2:40pm. PLEASE do not block or impede the flow of CN dismissal.
  • KINDERGARTEN dismisses at 2:30. ONLY Kindergarten parents should arrive on campus at 2:30
  • PARENTS, PLEASE be sure and share this information with those who are picking up your children. The flow of traffic will be much smoother if everyone would not arrive too early on campus. Timing your arrival BETWEEN 2:50-3:15 PM is best and will flow much easier for all.
Please do not park in any numbered space on the CN or SR campus between 7AM - 2PM.
